Earlier this week, we applied for the permit to start piling of our first production block. Meanwhile, as you can see, leveling of the site is progressing, with up to 300 trucks using our newly-built temporary highway exit. Previously, we used the federal road which we can now leave to travelers enjoying their summer vacation on Schleswig-Holstein's North Sea coast. Safe travels and happy summer!
Northvolt welcomes Pia Aaltonen-Forsell as its new Chief Finance Officer and Matthias Arleth as President of Business Unit Cells. Alexander Hartman, who has led Northvolt’s $15 billion financing as Chief Finance Officer over the past seven years, will now lead Northvolt’s recently announced company strategic review as Chief Transformation Officer. Peter Carlsson, CEO and Co-Founder of Northvolt commented: “I am proud to welcome such great talent as Pia and Matthias into Northvolt’s Executive Management team. Check out this handy graphic to learn about Northvolt's battery recycling process ↓ At our in-house recycling facilities, we receive batteries at their end of life, as well as manufacturing waste, from which we recover valuable raw materials, in addition to copper, aluminium and plastics. By co-locating our recycling facilities alongside our gigafactories, we are able to immediately recirculate materials back into production – closing the loop on batteries. In Stockholm, machinery, such as construction equipment, accounts for approximately 18% of the city’s carbon footprint. To pave a path towards a more sustainable future, City of Stockholm and Peab have joined forces to establish an emission-free construction site in the borough of Södermalm. Key to this vision is access to enough grid power to keep the electric machinery charged to work throughout the day. That’s where the importance of energy storage and sufficient charging infrastructure comes in. In addressing this charging challenge, our collaboration with Finnish charging solution provider Plugit Finland presents a powerful new solution. Powered by Voltpack Mobile technology, consisting of three Voltpack Cores, the Plugit Pro Mobile is a compact, fast-charging station with energy storage that can be installed quickly and easily, without the need for concrete foundations. From 100 meters to 4500 meters! The picture shows our current team lined up by date of hire. In a few years, the line will be much longer, stretching from the Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall to the Elbstrand in Hamburg. As we will scale fast, it is more than important to strengthen our cultural foundation right from the start.
