Jimmy Gran walks us through the investments in Ovako's Forging-Rolling Process 🔥 Ovako has invested in transportation equipment in Hofors and upgraded control stations in Hällefors to enhance their forging-rolling process. This combined method optimizes material properties and surface finish. The equipment enables automated transport of pre-forged billets, aiming for efficient production where every third billet can come from press 21 without disrupting the rolling mill operations. #innovation #carbonfootprint #sustainability #OvakoGroup

Electrification of our steel processes is vital for Ovako’s journey to carbon-neutral production. We have used ⚡️ arc furnaces to make steel for many years and recently switched our heat treatment furnaces from gas to electricity. Now, our Hofors mill is the first in the world to use hydrogen produced by electrolysis to heat steel before rolling and forging. #innovation #carbonfootprint #sustainability #hydrogen #OvakoGroup

Ovako’s transformative hydrogen plant at Hofors is fueling our inspiration as we take a crucial step towards zero-emission steel production. The plant is the world’s first to use fossil-free hydrogen to heat steel before rolling. This incredibly exciting project has not only secured local jobs but also shown the world the way forward in developing the hydrogen economy 💚 #innovation #carbonfootprint #sustainability #hydrogen #OvakoGroup

Ovako built and established Sweden’s largest fossil-free hydrogen plant last September. 💦 Our dream for around 15 years—to use hydrogen produced by electrolysis of water to heat steel before rolling—has become a reality. We've demonstrated that steel production with zero carbon emissions is not only possible but also in practice. #innovation #carbonfootprint #sustainability #hydrogen #OvakoGroup

🚚 Ovako’s hydrogen plant is enabling fossil-free freight solutions because, in addition to providing the fuel to heat steel before rolling, the surplus hydrogen we produce can power heavy trucks. It’s true synergy in action. 🔋 The electrolyser plant at Ovako’s Hofors mill in Sweden produces approximately 3,880 cubic meters of fossil-free hydrogen per hour. So, in addition to heating steel before rolling, we use the surplus hydrogen to enable fossil-free freight solutions, such as heavy trucks powered by fuel cells To read about the plant in depth, click here: https://lnkd.in/dVS8k47j #innovation #carbonfootprint #sustainability #hydrogen #OvakoGroup
