This evening, SoundCloud hosted a panel discussion in the Berlin headquarters to celebrate the launch of GENIE (Gender Equality Networks In Europe)! We asked the question: What are we working towards? A discussion on gender equity in today’s music industry. The panel was moderated by SoundCloud’s very own Bina ‘B’ Mistry and consisted of founders and members of initiatives that feature on the GENIE database. Thanks to Pamela Owusu-Brenyah from Music Women* Germany, Jane Arnison from Pathwaves, INVERNO from BLVSH Collective, and GENIE founder Grace Goodwin for a fantastic discussion. Melodie’s founder and CEO Evan Buist was the first in production music to use Musiio’s audio reference search technology, while keeping their own in-house tagging system. This allows their users to search Melodie’s catalogue for music that sounds similar to a reference track. 👏 Well done to the Melodie Music team for making such a streamlined experience!
