“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” A perfect encapsulation from of tonight's GENIE launch event from panellist Pamela Owusu-Brenyah. This evening, SoundCloud hosted a panel discussion in the Berlin headquarters to celebrate the launch of GENIE (Gender Equality Networks In Europe)! We asked the question: What are we working towards? A discussion on gender equity in today’s music industry. The panel was moderated by SoundCloud’s very own Bina ‘B’ Mistry and consisted of founders and members of initiatives that feature on the GENIE database. Thanks to Pamela Owusu-Brenyah from Music Women* Germany, Jane Arnison from Pathwaves, INVERNO from BLVSH Collective, and GENIE founder Grace Goodwin for a fantastic discussion. Also a huge thanks to the SoundCloud workplace team, Ruth MacMahon and Amy Farrington, with support from Suzanne Cole. Following the panel was an evening of music from DJs from BLVSH! Charli XCX has just released her most successful studio album. ‘Brat’ is currently the highest rated album on Metacritic and soared to number 2 on the UK Official Charts in its first week. Taking inspiration from the underground rave scene, ‘Brat’ is Charli’s take on a club album, which also incorporates her brutally honest lyricism and hyperpop influences. We curated a playlist inspired by the album that features some of Charli’s favourite artists and some smaller creators who embody the sound of the album. 💚 Have a listen and make it the soundtrack to your brat summer! 💚 🔗 Link in comments! 🔗 #musicintelligence #musictech #playlisting
