Simon Hodgkinson and I had the privilege of joining 14 other startups to engage with global utility giants, including E.ON, CLP, ESB, EDP, Origin Energy, Hydro Québec, and JERA Co., Inc. Our focus for the module: shaping potential collaborations to drive innovation in the energy sector. Last week Allye hosted several partners involved in the EV battery supply chain including SYNETIQ, LV=, Toyota Motor Europe, Cox Automotive Inc., Altilium Clean Technology, Halfords Auto Centres, Zenith Vehicles and Sheffield Hallam University. 🔋 This consortium has a key role in facilitating the supply, reuse and recycling of EV batteries at every stage of their existence. We all have a common interest in building a sustainable value chain for EV batteries but from with our own unique perspectives. ⚡ In addition to our discussions it was great to be able to show our partners the progress we are making at Allye, to underline the collaboration already established with SYNETIQ for EV battery pack testing and sourcing for the Allye MAX.

At #Glastonbury 2024 battery energy storage played a role in powering the world’s largest festival. 🔋 MSP Technologies Ltd a 3MWh system for Ecotricity on the Arcadia stage 🎸 Coldplay used its own 1.5MWh system to power its headline performance ⚡ JLR used its Allye MAX to charge 25 Defender PHEVs used as guest shuttles Batteries can play a vital role in decarbonising many industries and activities - construction, utilities, film and TV, oil and gas, mining and events - and can be as versatile and flexible when used off-grid as when they are connected on-grid. 😎 The MAX has many advantages given it is less than 3.5t on a trailer so can be towed by an SUV or pick-up with a standard licence. We are delighted that our Defender brand is the official vehicle partner for Glastonbury 2024, supporting artists, fans and volunteers at the iconic festival of contemporary performing arts. Defender has been a familiar sight at Glastonbury for the past 50 years, but this year the brand’s presence is slightly different! A fleet of 25 Defender 110 plug-in electric hybrids are supporting the festival’s sustainability strategy, aiming to have every area of its production powered by renewable energy and fuels. At our Defender Camp, we have our innovative new portable Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) produced in collaboration with Allye, which uses second life PHEV batteries to store energy. The fleet of plug-in electric hybrid Defenders will be powered by a combination of Glastonbury’s solar panels and our portable BESS, enabling festival staff and first responders to reach all corners of the 900-acre site no matter what the conditions and with zero tailpipe emissions. Allye was delighted to host Danny Beales from The Labour Party at our facility yesterday. Danny is standing for election in the Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituency where Allye is based. Danny toured our facility and was shown the Allye MAX battery energy storage system for commercial and industrial (C&I) applications. We talked about how Allye can support transformation of our electricity grid and meet #netzero by solving for grid constraints, provide local flexibility and its role as community energy storage. Danny was also very receptive to our feedback about how the next government can support the deployment of clean technology and what early stage hardware businesses like Allye need (financing, regulatory change and skills development).

Allye is delighted to have been selected as one of the Top 15 startups for the Free Electrons Program 2024. This is a great opportunity for Allye to demonstrate the power of the MAX battery energy storage system to improve operations, solve for constraints, deploy renewables, decarbonise and lower costs for energy utilities and their customers. The team is looking forward to the next stage in Montreal!

Allye is delighted to announce its partnership with Roadchef to address grid constraints at motorway service sites, managing peak demand and improving site operation to avoid outages. The MAX can also help to decarbonise and lower operating costs through smart arbitrage and flexibility services.
