See how we can reintroduce soul to our streets by drawing on the wisdom of our urban ancestors. By: Kalina Prelikj
BCA Landscape is a landscape design studio established in Liverpool since 1984, specialising in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Environmental Planning. We are positioned at the forefront of inclusive, sustainable public realm design. But don’t just take our word for it, Tim Richardson Landscape critic and author wrote about our scheme at Burscough in West Lancashire: - “BCA Landscape of Liverpool is without doubt one of the most exciting landscape consultancies in Britain today. Their visual motifs work as allusive artworks with many shades of meaning, a reflection of the cultural complexity of a human settlement. Their schemes tell a story saying ‘This is who we are now and who we were then. And all that is part of what we might become”.

We are honoured to be shortlisted and attending the Pineapple Placemaking Awards tonight, with a wonderful array of projects from all over the country being celebrated. PUBLIC SPACE AWARD - This Pineapple is for a landscape or public space that makes a positive contribution to the life of a wider place (read more at article below). COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - This Pineapple is for meaningful community engagement. The judges will be considering how the initiative connected meaningfully with stakeholders and citizens, and how their feedback was incorporated into decision making.
We are proud to have four Schemes nominated for the HomeViews Resident Choice Awards on 23rd February 2024! Our Director, Mike O'Connell will be at the event on Friday so feel free to get in touch.
The Glade of Light project was a Northern Design Award winner last night in the gloriously Gothic surroundings of Chester Cathedral. BCA Landscape are proud that we were able to use our skills to create such a healing and positive space, which acts as a fitting memorial to those who lost their lives and a calm, restorative space for those who are left behind to reflect. #Liverpool #Manchester #Gladeoflight #Chester #Northerndesignawards23 #Landscape #landscapedesign #design #awards
We had a great night with Amey Consulting at the National Highways Awards this week, where we won the Big Active Travel award with them for our work on the regeneration of the Lime Street area in Liverpool UK. Pedestrians and cyclists have been given greater priority and space at this key transport node in the City, whilst respecting the historical importance of the area. What is it about a window with a green view that makes us feel better? Over the last few years we have been delving deeper into understanding the psychological and physiological mechanics behind this phenomenon. It’s a fascinating world that includes touch, sound and smell, and not just sight. It involves ergonomics and proxemics (are we comfortable?) and it tracks back thousands of years to see how we are still adapting as a species to the very recent arrival of Cities! We have been using this fascinating research to develop our own understanding and in-turn inform our design for this amazing new Study Garden at Liverpool University’s Sydney Jones Library. #landscape #landscapearchitects #design #landscapearchitecture #landscapedesign #liverpool #uol
Our director, Andy Thomson will be speaking at the Education Estates conference on October 17th at Manchester Central. His talk, "Does the place we work or study help or hinder you?", will explore the impact of our physical environment on our learning and productivity based on Brett Gardens, which is an outdoor study area we completed at the Liverpool University Campus and includes 44 study carrels, each with a window into a shared green space. Link to Brett Gardens here: https://lnkd.in/eYQ-BW5r If you're attending the conference, be sure to check out Andy's talk at 2:00 PM at the Estates & Facilities Management Stage. #landscape #architects #landscapearchitects #design #manchester #landscapedesign #landscapearchitecture #Liverpool #landscape #outdoorstudy #outdoorstudying Andy Thomson Education Estates® Exhibition | Conference | Awards
