Constructing Excellence is delighted to sign an MoU with the Construction Clients' Leadership Group https://lnkd.in/ezTEngbv The CCLG is an independent client group representing private, public and regulated clients. Both CE and CCLG share a vision for creating a better built environment. That can only be achieved through better alignment with clients and the supply chain to unlock improved productivity and better outcomes that will lead to a safer and more sustainable built environment that better serves society. Both organisations focus on providing non-commercial, safe spaces to share knowledge and best practice, equipping their members with the knowledge and insights to drive improvements in their own organisations and projects. We have been working closely with the CCLG over the past 18 months, sharing content and events and aim to strengthen this relationship through joint activities and member involvement. Constructing Excellence
Construction
National movement founded on excellence and collaboration - positively disrupting the construction industry
About us
Constructing Excellence is the single organisation driving change in construction. Improving industry performance to produce a better built environment. Our Movement operates at a national, regional and local level within the UK – and increasingly internationally too. We have a network of 9 regional centres covering England, Wales and Northern Ireland. These are separate organisations which carry the brand with a mission to deliver into that region or nation, often working closely with a university. We also have over 30 local best practice clubs, each with their own independent volunteer committee, which reach out locally to SMEs by providing monthly breakfast or evening meetings, typically with a speaker on a Constructing Excellence theme and with the natural bi-product of networking. Our history dates back over 2 decades to the Latham and Egan reports, which remain key to our agenda. The London Olympics and the Construction Commitments that were produced to aid their successful delivery were an important milestone in the journey so far. Our own Never Waste a Good Crisis report in 2010 sought to help the industry prepare for the recession.

“Better procurement is crucial to enable the construction supply chain to effectively deliver a sustainable built environment and meet our climate goals. It’s great to see Crown Commercial Service demonstrating its leadership in this space through the independent Constructing Excellence scheme and driving best practice across the procuring departments.”- Jane Goddard, Deputy CEO and Chief Marketing Officer at BRE. 📄 On July 22, Crown Commercial Service (CCS) became the first public sector procurement organisation to achieve Constructing Excellence's Gold Standard Verification, with six other clients and framework providers participating in the pilot. These include the Ministry of Justice UK, Environment Agency, SCAPE Group, CHIC Ltd, LHC Procurement Group, and Procurement Hub (Places for People). This accreditation showcases a clear commitment to improving value, reducing risks, and achieving net zero in all construction projects. Read more about Constructing Excellence’s Gold Standard and its impact on the construction supply chain: https://lnkd.in/e_8y5Ts2 “I’m delighted that CCS’s Construction frameworks have achieved Gold Standard status. Our frameworks are designed to facilitate a real shift change in how construction requirements are procured, increasing supply chain collaboration, boosting innovation, supporting carbon net zero targets, and focusing just as strongly on building safety. This accreditation demonstrates how we’re continuously improving our service for customers. It isn’t just about saving them time and money. It’s about maximising their estates to build a better future for the communities they serve.” John Welch FRICS, Commercial Director at Crown Commercial Service. “The Gold Standard features of the Crown Commercial Service frameworks and alliances, supported by their innovative contracts, have helped clients such as Ministry of Justice and Defence Infrastructure Organisation to achieve impressive efficiencies, innovations and net zero commitments. Their Gold Standard practices and contracts have also ensured new business opportunities and fair treatment for tier 1 and tier 2 supply chain members.” Professor David Mosey CBE, King's College London. #netzero #Construction #ConstructingExcellence #procurement

Delighted to support this call from BRE colleagues on the actions our new government can take to deliver a better, more sustainable built environment. It's great to see references to the importance of standards, innovation, and procurement through Constructing the Gold Standard.
📄 How can the newly elected Labour Government deliver transformational change in the #builtenvironment during their first 100 days in power? Today, BRE publishes a roadmap outlining the measures the new Government should prioritise during its first 100 days, such as unlocking innovation in #construction, improving Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) usage and clearly defined targets for the Warm Homes retrofit programme. This follows the Labour Party’s pledges to make Britain a #cleanenergy superpower and bolster the standard of the UK’s homes with initiatives such as the Warm Homes Plan. BRE's key recommendations for the Government include: - An extension of building regulations to include #embodiedcarbon, setting a timeline for its implementation across new and existing buildings. - A commitment to decent, safe homes for all, with the publication of a Decent Homes Standard for the private rented sector. - Cutting the lifespan of domestic EPCs from ten to five years to increase their usability and #netzero readiness. 🔊"We urge the new Government to harness the full resource and capability of the built environment sector to develop and implement improved standards over the coming years, both at home and abroad," said BRE CEO, Gillian Charlesworth. BRE’s roadmap can be read in full here: https://lnkd.in/ezuYfQ5n
