We are excited to launch the EdTech Hub #LearningBrief series which provides practical resources for people working to improve how technology is used in education. The briefs are designed to help busy decision-makers working in low- and middle-income countries. The briefs are based on practical evidence generated through EdTech Hub's work and from across the sector. Do you want to join us in making EdTech evidence accessible so that it can be used to improve both policymaking and implementation? Check out our learning briefs: https://ow.ly/R2qv50SaTuJ We want to hear from you! Comment below with your idea for new learning brief topics that could help your work.

The education system in Pakistan has seen improvements in primary enrolment, but student learning remains a challenge. The recent education emergencies worsened the situation, leading to learning loss and increased classroom inequality. Efforts are being made to use technology to improve students' educational outcomes, focusing on supporting teachers and parents. So, what does it take to build the system back up better? Technology-supported personalised learning has a statistically significant, positive effect on learning outcomes. Its interventions are similarly effective for mathematics and literacy and whether or not teachers also have an active role in the personalisation. Personalised approaches that adapt or adjust to the learner have been shown to lead to significantly greater impact. Here are lessons we have learnt from our work in Digital Personalised Learning: https://ow.ly/rf6v50SIRKu

Costs of most EdTech interventions can be very high, and can easily go above the entire education sector budget. At EdTech Hub, we often review pilots that are unaffordable at scale - by many factors. We know that ensuring a route to affordability at scale is vital. But, how can one ensure that EdTech investments are #costeffective? Find out: https://lnkd.in/eSw-6JxQ

Exciting developments through our Helpdesk and country engagement work in Sierra Leone! The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education and the Teaching Service Commission have begun the development of a National Digital Learning Strategy in partnership with The World Bank and EdTech Hub. In June 2024, the first steering committee meeting for the development of a National Digital Learning Strategy was convened, chaired by the Chief Education Officer of the MBSSE, Dr Yatta Kanu, and led by the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Minister Conrad Sackey. This meeting aligned the steering team on a shared path forward, establishing timelines, deliverables, and next steps in the development of the National Digital Learning Strategy. EdTech Hub is initiating primary and secondary research activities to inform the first significant piece of research: a situational analysis. We are eager to bring you more updates from this work as we move towards strategy co-creation in September, which will shape the EdTech vision, goals, and activities for both the MBSSE and the TSC. Stay tuned for more updates! #CostEffectiveness is crucial for scaling educational interventions. It allows for the comparison of interventions and helps implementers adapt to financial sustainability. In our Malawi sandbox, we tested the cost-effectiveness of OneTab across three models: learning centres, classrooms, and households. Insights from the Sandbox with OneBillion pave the way for a sustainable, scalable solution. Explore our lessons learned and how we're driving impactful, cost-effective education solutions in Malawi: https://ow.ly/nUwN50SCY7a
