Promise made; promise delivered... GW Highways are delighted to announce we have achieved carbon neutrality verification. GW Highways has achieved carbon neutrality in accordance with PAS 2060:2014. We are committed to reducing emissions, monitoring progress through annual verification. Our Term Services Director, David Gibbins said, ‘We are the only infrastructure business fully accountable for scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions across all our UK operations. While we continue to reduce emissions from our activities, we support the immediate ambitions to accelerate to net zero and have looked at the voluntary carbon market to mitigate our climate impact today’. The Carbon Trust continues to work with us on this journey, providing expert guidance on corporate climate action. Dom Burbridge, Director, Climate Risk & Net Zero at the Carbon Trust, says: ‘The work GW Highways has carried out so far to engage their supply chain on carbon reduction highlights the importance of collaboration in reducing the impact of business on the climate.’ We are delighted to announce we are now working with Climate Impact Partners:  specialist in carbon market solutions for climate action. Climate Impact Partners sources sustainable infrastructure projects verified to leading international standards that support renewable energy and decrease dependence on fossil fuels. Natalie Taylor, Director of Client Solutions at Climate Impact Partners, explains: ‘Our joined-up approach helps organisations like GW Highways address their environmental impacts through high-quality carbon market solutions that also deliver positive impact for nature and local communities.’ Our journey is far from finished; our goal is to achieve organisational net zero before 2050.  Read the full story here, https://lnkd.in/ekGf-rZ5 Highways Magazine Dom Browne   #CarbonTrust #CarbonNeutral #PAS2060 #Sustainability

Another great example of how GW Highways improve outcomes for the communities in which we operate!  Here are some images of a recent scheme carried out in Meopham on behalf of our client, Kent County Council. A local resident said, “I have to say, your guys working on the project were so diligent throughout the process. The result is fabulous – so much quieter. Much appreciated!” Another resident said, "We would like to compliment your staff on keeping the noise to a minimum. The resulting surface looks brilliant and is great to drive on. It's made tyres sound quieter too. All very good indeed. Thank you and well done!” Great work from team GW Highways as we continue to ‘Build Back Better’!

For the second time GW Highways have trialed the all-electric Paver – SD1800W E from Dynapac UK, this time on one of our schemes for Brent Council.  The SD1800W E produces zero carbon emissions at point of use. Inner cities account for 60% of the global greenhouse gas emissions. The SD1800W E has an electro-hydraulic system, where the diesel engine and gearbox were replaced within an axial flux electric motor directly powering the hydraulic pumps. The SD1800W E reduces noise levels by 20%, another environmental benefit when working in urban areas.     Luke Wenham, Highways Director said, “The Z. ERA paver is a great push towards an emission free workplace and will have a place alongside hydrogen and alternative fuel driven engines. We need the charging infrastructure expanded in the United Kingdom to make these machines a viable choice in reducing our carbon footprint in the highway’s industry.”    Climate change is one of the most serious threats facing global society. We all need to make every effort to reduce our carbon footprint as much as we can; GW Highways are proud to be leading the industry in this necessary change.  #Brent #GWH #Dynapac #Highways #NetZero #CarbonNeutralNow Donato Campanaro

#InternationalWomensDay! The campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2024 is Inspire Inclusion. When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world.   In a male dominated industry, GW Highways continue to support and promote the powerful women in our workforce. Gone are the times that women need to convert their sizes into men's, which can be ill fitting and not fit for purpose. In this fully inclusive environment GW Highways have provided women's PPE to all those staff that require it.  #IWD2024 #InspireInclusion #WomenInConstruction #BuildBackBetter #GWH #SouthEast International Women's Day 2024

GW Highways are delighted to be reconstructing part of the A299 Thanet Way on behalf of Kent County Council.  We will excavate the road to a significant depth and rebuild it with a much stronger construction, using specialist stabilisation products, different sized aggregates and multiple layers of asphalt. Strategic Asset Manager at Kent County Council Highways, Alan Casson MCIHT said: “We are absolutely delighted that GW Highways, our Road Asset Renewal Contractor for the last three years, is delivering this vital infrastructure project for Kent. We have worked closely with them over the last year to develop an innovative design. That, together with our confidence in the planning and delivery capability, means we have confidence that they will complete this project on time minimising disruption to the residents and businesses of Kent, and that the underlying ground conditions will be resolved once and for all.”    Following the completion of these works, the structural integrity of the road will be far more resilient, reducing the need for reactive repairs, the associated frequent and disruptive traffic management and improving the ride quality of Kent’s highway users. We don’t just maintain; we build back better!   To read the full article click the link below. #A299 #ThanetWay #KCC #GWH
