At Hence, we were delighted to support and partner with the University of Rwanda College of Science and Technology, in the Sixth Celebration of International Day of Mathematics (IDM) in Rwanda / PI-DAY. The event objectives were to popularize Mathematics through competitions & attract more students to STEM areas, celebrate women’s excellence in Mathematics, and allow interactions between academia and industry, private and public institutions. Our team participation included Alexandra Rogers, PhD who through a panel discussion shared with students about various ways they can apply Maths in the professional industry, and as an expert in Maths, how her background enables her to contribute to the building of our AI-enabled software products. We believe in talent development and are on a continued journey to support talent in STEM and tech. #talent #maths #stem #tech

    People-driven Leader | Creative | Problem-solver | Tech

During the Africa CEO Forum annual summit 2024. I had the honor to participate in the #AfricaCEOForum annual summit 2024 hosted in #Rwanda. This largest annual gathering of the African private sector brought together various Africa's decision makers - business leaders, CEOs, investors, heads of state & ministers, and policymakers from Africa and around the world in a two-day summit that included debates and high-level meetings dedicated to shaping a new future for Africa. Lots of amazing sessions happened. As a #Hencer, some of the highlights for me were sessions related to #AI. One of them was a discussion on Africa becoming a champion of #ArtificialIntelligence that was led by Alex Okosi of Google Africa & Kate Kallot of Amini! Discussed that #AI could, by 2035, double the African GDP if we harness its power, also enabling us to bridge the gap in education. The challenges for Africa include the compute divide & data gap, and great to see partnerships being born to solve these - such as some ongoing between Big Techs & Telcos for infrastructure development. And happily, on talent, emphasized that to become a champion in #AI, we don’t need to have super experienced people, we just need to be willing to learn. I agree with this and it’s what we are doing at Hence Technologies. We believe in the great talent available in Africa, not only the ones with many years of experience, but also those coming fresh from school. We are constantly investing in them and can testify to how learning is the key to progressing and becoming a champion. The great African talent is building #Hence's AI-enabled software solutions, world-class technology made in Rwanda, and serving top companies globally. Thus contributing to proving that Africa can become an AI champion, not only as consumers but even most importantly as AI creators. Many thanks to the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and IFC - International Finance Corporation for hosting the summit and for the invitation. #AfricaCEOForum #HenceTechnologies #AI

#ThrowBackThursday Reflecting on an Enriching Experience for Hence at Rwanda Day 2024 in Washington DC about 3 months ago. Hence was represented by one of our investors, Mico Theogene Micomyiza a Rwandan, based in New York & and our former intern, alongside a group of young Rwandans associated with Hence either as former fellows/interns or as part of the Rwanda Math Olympiad program, which Hence has played a key role in founding & supporting. These Rwandans are currently pursuing their studies in the US - Christophe KWIZERA, Honorine Munezero, Nadine Akimana, Abayo Joseph Desire, Mugisha Abdulkarim, Freeman Irabaruta. We strongly believe in the Rwandan talent of the future and sponsored these young individuals to attend on our behalf as they embark on their careers in the technology sector. Our commitment extends to nurturing Rwandan talent, not only within the country but also abroad. We believe it’s essential to bring them back and encourage them to invest their knowledge & resources in their home country. Rwanda Day provided an excellent platform to engage this diaspora talent. The event was an invaluable opportunity for learning, re(connecting), and collaborating among Rwandan enthusiasts. For us it was not only external but also internal - Mico the investor & former intern got to meet our current legal advisor in Rwanda Maggie Baingana :) The students gained insightful experiences, delving into Rwanda's visionary journey and exploring the potential role of the Rwandan community, both domestically and in the diaspora, in the nation's socio-economic development. They also expressed delight in learning more about Rwanda 30, Rwanda's resilience & progress, and aim towards becoming a leader in technology-driven development. Connecting with the career center was another highlight, providing them with information about opportunities available for the diaspora to contribute back home. Hence takes pride in these students' dedication to learning, excellence, career growth, and their commitment to contributing back to Rwanda after finishing. Rwanda Day was truly a highlight! Here's to more connecting, learning, collaborating, and talent nurturing, both within the country and in the diaspora. #RwandaDay2024 #talent #diaspora #tech

Hence Technologies stands in solidarity with #Rwanda and Rwandans for #Kwibuka30. Yesterday, our team had the privilege of visiting the Ntarama Genocide Memorial, where we deepened our understanding of Rwanda's history and the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. Following this, we spent time with a community of elderly survivors at the GAERG Aheza Center, where we provided support for 10 families and contributed to the center's development & growth. Their resilience is truly inspiring, and we appreciate the opportunity we had to witness this. We are committed to learning from history and supporting the Rwandan people as they continue the journey of development and resilience. #Kwibuka30 #rwanda

A few weeks ago our team participated in the African Law & Tech Network summit in Kigali at Norrsken East Africa where we had interesting and invaluable conversations on law and tech intersections. Our cofounder Arun Shanmuganathan contributed to the panel discussion around promoting efficiency in legal services, where he shared our approaches and how we’ve been helping some of the biggest companies globally gain efficiency in legal services through our Made-in-Rwanda innovative data-centric & AI-enabled software solutions. It was not only a time for us to share, but also to forge connections and learn about Rwanda's legal scene, and the technology adoption progress & ambitions in the sector, given the fast-changing global landscape. This was particularly invaluable as we explore bringing our innovation and tech expertise into the local legal space. We appreciate Rwanda's efforts in enabling innovators like us to do what we do best, by establishing systems we can build upon. As the minister of ICT & Innovation, Honorable Paula Ingabire highlighted, these systems allow technology to become an enabler. And if there's no order, technology creates more chaos. We extend our gratitude to the Center for Law and Innovation and Certa Foundation for making this happen. It’s always a pleasure for us to be where tech and law meet! #innovation #law #tech

We drank at the pub where Watson and Crick discovered DNA. We saw the tree where an apple (supposedly) fell on Newton’s head and his original student notebook in the Wren library. And now Arun Shanmuganathan, Steve Heitkamp and I have reached enlightenment. You are not ready for what Hence Technologies has in store. Stay tuned…
