🌍🌱 Happy Earth Day from HyveGeo! 🌱🌍 The signing of the Paris Agreement, a historic international climate pact, launched on #EarthDay of 2016 as a pledge to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change. Yet, despite its aspirations, global emissions have increased by over 60% since 1992.  Reducing emissions, while critical, will not be enough to keep temperatures from rising above 2 degrees. To effectively halt temperature increase, a broad consensus among scientists stresses the importance of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) with a requirement to remove 10 gigatonnes of CO₂ annually by 2050 to offset residual CO₂ emissions. Nature-based and technologically scalable durable solutions, while not a substitute for reducing emissions, must be significantly scaled up if we want to achieve net zero and lock carbon for millennia. According to the UNFCC, we need around $600 billion every year to meet the Paris Agreement.
