Lineat Composites- A leading technical carbon fibre recycler, is excited to welcome Oliver Wessely, as our new Executive Chairman. Oliver founded and led Formax, a global leader in carbon fibre multiaxial materials (NCF), acquired in 2016 by HEXCEL, a global leader in advanced composites technology. Oliver will be working alongside the executive team to develop and give strategic direction to the technology. ‘’Oliver brings a wealth of experience from the CF manufacturing sector as well as an unrelenting passion and drive for success. He is a welcome addition to the team, and I look forward to working closely on many aspects of the business with Oliver’’ commented Gary Owen, CEO Lineat Composites. Oliver Wessely commented; “I am very excited to be joining the talented team at Lineat and look forward to working with them on the continued development of their game changing AFFT™ technology for manufacturing unidirectional tapes utilising recycled carbon fibre.” Here together, Oliver, Lourens, Gary and Luis mid meeting at the Bristol & Bath Science Park.
Lineat Composites
Renewable Energy Semiconductor Manufacturing
Forming the future of high-performance sustainable composites
About us
Introducing a new aligned fibre material format with superior formability to simplify composite manufacturing. Our fibre alignment technology produces highly aligned discontinuous fibre tapes that exhibit mechanical performance comparable to continuous fibre composites and have a greatly improved formability to simplify existing manual and automated processes. This forms the basis of high-performance sustainable composites by allowing the use and re-use of reclaimed fibres in composite parts, reducing the carbon footprint of composite materials. The tapes can be used as a direct substitute for continuous fibre UD tapes in existing supply chains for various markets including sports, marine, automotive, and aerospace.

INEOS Britannia Americas Cup syndicate is teaming up with Lineat Composites an innovative technology company based in Bristol, to identify and investigate circular routes for the recycling and alignment of waste carbon fibre. Material using reclaimed carbon fibre has been manufactured by Lineat using their patented AFFT process and is currently being evaluated at INEOS Britannia. Once tested, a suitable product can be identified for future manufacture and positioned within the Americas cup yacht development programme.'

Our CEO, Gary Owen, will be attending the Pathways to inclusive innovation: Building cultures and practice event, held at County Hall, London. This event, hosted by the Royal Academy of Engineering, gives us an opportunity to speak to other innovation-led businesses throughout the engineering landscape. It’s vital to create connections within the industry, especially with those in attendance being part of a start-up or smaller businesses. If you are also attending and wish to speak to us about Lineat’s sustainable solutions, please get in contact. #CarbonFibre #Circularity

There were some interesting takeaways from The Bristol Composites Institute and National Composites Centre Joint Annual Conference, where our CTO Lourens Blok participated in a panel discussing "Composites of the Future". The UK has a strong market for innovative materials, but it is still important to help new technologies stay in the UK, scale, and access funding. Sustainability can be a major composite challenge but the outlook is becoming increasingly optimistic with emerging technologies, such as Lineats's recyclable carbon fibre. We can build a sustainable future but we need to act. #CarbonFibre #Innovations #ChangingTomorrow

Have you read 11th Hour Racing’s recent campaign report? We share 11th Hour Racing’s determination to demonstrate that performance and sustainability can co-exist, so we’re proud to be recognised in the report. One of the key learnings from the report is the importance of insetting – investing in innovations in the wider value chain to bring down organisation emissions year on year. 11th Hour Racing developed a process to identify potential innovations which could reduce their operational footprint. That’s where Lineat comes in, with 11th Hour Racing investing in research to help us increase productivity and reduce energy consumption. We look forward to working closely with the team in the future. If you want to read more, find the report in the comments. #Sustainabilty #Insetting #CarbonFibre

The Bristol Composites Institute and National Composites Centre Joint Annual Conference is on the horizon, and Lineat will be in attendance. This year's theme is "Composites of the Future", a subject we are passionate about at Lineat. When we envision a net-zero future, we see the important role that materials have in helping build the structures and components that enable more efficient use of resources. Our CTO Lourens Blok will take part in a panel session and discussion with other industry experts on this very topic on Thursday 16th November at 14:15. If you're attending too, contact Lourens to discuss how we can reduce the environmental impact of important materials like carbon fibre. #Composites #Sustainability #CarbonFibre
