Proud to be a part of Northern Pride 🏳🌈🚔 Last weekend, we joined thousands of people from near and far attending Newcastle Pride in the City, showcasing the best of the North East in a welcoming, vibrant and inclusive environment. From the Friday 5k run to the Pride Breakfast attended with other local partners and blue light services, we didn’t let the typically poor British weather rain on the Pride Parade supporting and participating in some fantastic weekend activities alongside colleagues, families, friends, and communities 🌈 We're proud to have been involved such a well-attended event; engaging with the community, ensuring their safety, and celebrating diversity and inclusion both within our workforce and the communities we serve. Ready for the world of frontline policing 🚔 Last week, we held a celebration event rewarding and recognising our latest cohort of student officers and volunteers as they achieved a major milestone in their #TeamNP journey 👏 Over the course of the last 17 weeks, they have gained the confidence, knowledge and skills needed to effectively represent our force and deliver an outstanding service. 81 students from across our Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA), Graduate Detective Programme (GDP), Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP), Police Now and our latest Special Constables cohort were welcomed to the event to celebrate their achievements alongside colleagues, family and friends 👏 We wish them the best of luck as they embark upon the exciting world of operational policing 💙 Thank you to the Northumbria Police Federation who continue to make events like this possible by providing sponsorship. #RECRUITING | Are you looking for a career where you can play to your strengths? Working together to drive down anti-social behaviour and serious violence across our communities🤝 We've teamed up with Susan Dungworth - Northumbria Police & Crime Commissioner, local authorities, and the transport network on Project Shield: ✔ Officers and partners will conduct targeted patrols in crime hotspots to boost public trust and confidence ✔ Analysts and intelligence officers identifying crime trends to tailor actions for each area ✔ With summer holidays underway, additional activities are planned to address seasonal increases in ASB and violence ✔ Prevention work through the Violence Reduction Unit and youth services You can expect robust action in hotspot areas to catch known offenders, focusing on visibility and community engagement to ensure safety 👮♂️ We're excited to see the positive impact this joint operation will have on our region. Today's to-do list: watch this video ✅ 📺 Line of Duty star Vicky McClure has been in the North East increasing awareness around dementia and the support available should a loved-one go missing. The Bafta award-winning actress and founder of Our Dementia Choir visited HQ to promote the use of the Herbert Protocol – a form used by all police forces to help find a vulnerable person who is missing. The form can be filled out by carers, family, friends, or the vulnerable person themselves and contains important information including a physical description and photo, medical information, places previously located and contact details 🖊️ Promoting dementia awareness is a cause very close to Vicky’s heart, after her grandmother was diagnosed and later died from the disease. Prestigious national award for outstanding efforts in the fight against rural crime 🚜🏆 Since January 2023, Superintendent Andy Huddleston has served as the head the National Rural Crime Unit and the National Agriculture Theft Team (NCATT), playing a vital role in supporting forces up and down the UK, training more than 700 officers across the country, and preventing and tackling rural acquisitive crime 👮♂️ His work, along with efforts to maintain relations with plant and agricultural stakeholders, has led to Supt Huddleston being named the recipient of the IAATI UK Peter Leigh Plant and Agricultural Award for 2023 - 2024.
