This week our spotlight is on Jo-Anne Glenn, MSc, MBA, fCMgr – our exceptional Project Manager. Jo joined Nova Pangaea Technologies recently and has brought with her pragmatism and a wealth of practical solutions to our team.   Jo says: “I am usually on the plant floor in a hard hat and safety shoes, and I would not have it any other way! Being part of NPT is very family orientated and we share a common purpose with our endeavors to help deliver decarbonisation solutions. I enjoy project management because I have a chance to utilise my expertise in a stimulating environment. It allows critical thinking, adaptability, efficient practice use and varied scope.”    Sarah Ellerby, CEO, said, “Jo’s work ethic and dedication is exemplary.   She is solution oriented, works well with the team and gets the job done with a no-nonsense approach. Nova Pangaea Technologies welcomes today's King's Speech which references the introduction of a Bill to support sustainable aviation fuel production noted as the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (Revenue Support Mechanism) Bill. This legislative support is key to unlocking cleantech and plant investment through a viable pricing mechanism and will allow the UK to develop and deliver a home-grown SAF industry and meet its fast approaching mandate targets. We centre on innovation and excellence, and these two core attributes are delivered through our people.    As NPT prepares REFNOVA for the process design package for the first of a kind, we spotlight Simon Wright who is contributing to this vital work. He has been at the heart of this activity and is our Manufacturing and Operations Manager. He brings valuable experience in process optimisation, quality control, and production planning and implementation.   Simon notes: “I really enjoy my role and it is nice to have my skills put to good use alongside the trust placed in me. I joined NPT because of its sustainable practices to seek ways to replace fossil based fuels and I am drawn to the company’s innovate approach to achieve this end result.” The company’s technology transforms wasted materials, sustainably sourced, into valuable resources. One such resource in addition to the 2G ethanol is biochar. Here at Nova Pangaea Technologies we are preparing our demonstration facility at Wilton International for process readiness of our REFNOVA technology. Nova Pangaea Technologies is delighted to welcome David Potter as Chief Programme and Procurement Officer. David is a highly experienced leadership professional with 24 years at EY. He has delivered major projects across a wide range of sectors in operational and organisational transformation and performance improvement consulting. Prior to that, he delivered major pan-European improvement initiatives in the Chemicals Industry. His extensive experience includes engineering and delivering complex programmes and procuring key suppliers and partnerships. David holds in-depth knowledge of advanced manufacturing having led operating model redesign, strategic scale-up and supply chain transformation.   Sarah Ellerby, NPT CEO, said: “We are building out a world class delivery and execution team for a first of a kind 2G ethanol plant and Project Speedbird entailing multisite implementation. David joins NPT as a key Executive team hire alongside the recently announced appointment of Peter Kay, Chief Operating Officer.   “David is very experienced with over 30 years’ in major project and programme delivery, including advanced manufacturing, and has spent a substantial number of years at EY gaining expertise which will greatly benefit NPT as we advance our position to commercialisation as a 2G ethanol enabler and producer of the highly valuable biochar.   “There is a call to action with an immediate need for technologies to address industry and government decarbonisation targets as we fast approach SAF mandate implementation here in the UK, Europe and globally. NPT’s technology, REFNOVA, is a key contributor and the strength and expertise of David and Peter adds to our technology focus and big programme delivery.”   David Potter said: “I am really excited to join the highly credible and driven leadership team of NPT. International Women in Engineering Day celebrated on 23rd June 2024 signifies support for female engineers to reach their full potential in an inclusive industry. The clean technology sector continues to grow with the need for a variety of sustainable solutions to reduce negative environmental impacts. Technical skills develop and deliver such solutions, and at Nova Pangaea Technologies we attract through our practices diverse and far-reaching talent based on equality and inclusion.

The annual ranking of BusinessCloud’s EnviroTech 2024 has identified Nova Pangaea Technologies in its top 50 ranking for 2024, placed 16th out of 117 companies. The companies within the select list are deemed UK’s most innovative startups, scaleups and established firms creating original technology for green energy to protect the environment and boost sustainability, and were judged by an expert panel as well as through reader voting. Our CEO Sarah Ellerby was invited today by LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) to give an overview of Nova Pangaea Technologies (NPT) and respond as a Tees Valley sustainability-led business for future decarbonisation. The event, a partnership between the London Stock Exchange, the ScaleUp Institute and the National Maritime Innovation Hub, held at the Port of Tyne, hosted speakers from LSEG’s leadership, including CEO Julia Hoggett, sustainable finance and research teams, investors, and the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK. The occasion reflected the findings of the ScaleUp Institute with the UK’s scaleup community growing and expanding by 26% within ten years to c34,000 scaleups contributing over £1.4 trillion to the economy. The UK is the second most active and capital-intensive Venture Capital market in the world with £22 billion of venture capital deployed in 2022. Tyneside is a fast growing region for scaleup activity in the UK and today was an opportunity to place a spotlight on the region and the need for a continued supportive environment for businesses to grow through investment. NPT is headquartered in Teesside and supports the region, and as part of its decarbonisation agenda through its clean technology offering.

Great Futures launch event is currently being held in Riyadh (14th and 15th of May 2024) and led by UK Government’s Department for Business and Trade. It brings together opportunities for UK businesses in Saudi Arabia and a platform to forge partnerships across various sectors and disciplines, including with Saudi business and government counterparts.   Principle partners of the event are HSBC and British Airways, and attendees of more than 750 are by invitation-only.   Nova Pangaea Technologies is delighted to have been invited by HSBC as part of their delegation of 25 companies and a recognised leader in our sector. Present at the event are Sarah Ellerby, CEO, and Patrick Smith, Strategic Development Director.   The two-day event starts a year-long programme of trade, innovation, education, tourism and cultural activity with an opportunity for those attending to network and be part of UK’s showcase of expertise and excellence establishing partnerships and collaboration between the two countries. Patrick Smith Nova Pangaea Technologies presented #projectspeedbird at the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Supply Chain Initiative today, as part of the Department for Transport (DfT) SAF project showcase. It has been an informative and engaging event with a host of speakers, including Tom Byrne, British Airways Head of Net Zero. He noted project Speedbird in British Airways' concise portfolio of key SAF projects and one of DfT’s five projects to be under construction in 2025. Thank you to Tom and to also Anthony Browne MP who yesterday in his opening address mentioned Nova Pangaea Technologies and his site visit to view our demonstration plant in Teesside.
