The #PIDGInstitute Effective Directors' Training is aimed at individuals who sit on boards of PIDG-supported projects and investments, or who are aspiring directors or senior managers. The recent three-day training in Nairobi was attended by representatives from projects across #Africa, spanning multiple sectors. Based on the Institute of Director’s Certificate in Company Direction, the purpose of the training was to enhance business acumen and knowledge, supporting senior leaders to effectively steer their organisations to success. The training was an opportunity for participants to learn from the presenters – IoD’s Janhavi Dardakar and a number of PIDG colleagues – to share their collective experiences and to collaborate with others working in different but related sectors. Emily Woods, COO at @Sanivation shared her impressions here: https://lnkd.in/eUMD8fAM

The evolution of global project finance towards ESG themes has revolutionised sustainable development and responsible investment. Central to this shift are green bonds which mobilise substantial capital for environmental projects and attract a diverse investor base prioritising ethical investment. GuarantCo plays a catalytic role by providing credit guarantees that enhance the credibility of green bonds, particularly in higher risk markets across Africa and Asia. Our support has facilitated significant green bond issuances including those for Acorn Holdings Limited Holdings in Kenya https://lnkd.in/dqRSgHPD, Cellcard (CamGSM PLC.) in Cambodia https://lnkd.in/eRGyUXFD, EVN Finance Joint Stock Company in Vietnam https://lnkd.in/e4hhh2As and Runner Automobiles PLC in Bangladesh https://lnkd.in/eN92FPb7 In this Blended Knowledge Bulletin issue, we are focusing on mobilising capital for ESG projects through certified green bonds. Dr Emily Wood, Global Head of HSES at The Private Infrastructure Development Group and Neil Winspear, HSES Manager, visited Helios Towers Africa (HTA) project sites in Malawi accompanied by the African Development Bank Group. The Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund, a PIDG company, was anchor investor in Helios Towers's $850 million public bond offering in May, supporting the company to improve access to information and communication services across its nine African markets. The telecoms sector has high inherent health and safety risks, due to the complex contracting and the many thousands of miles driven by workers. HTA is tackling these challenges with honesty and commitment. It was encouraging to see the strong HSE leadership and HSE culture being driven from the top and empowered across the company. We look forward to continuing to work with a company that puts safety as a central value!

Dr Emily Wood, PIDG Global Head #HSES, was able to see first hand the agri-solar initiative being undertaken by our partner JCM Power in #Malawi. This project showcases how a solar farm footprint can be utilised to deliver not only #cleanenergy, but chillies, honey, and even sheep! We are looking forward to watching this pioneering project scale up to deliver #sustainablefarming for the project and for local communities. Well done to Samuel Kapota and the JCM team! GuarantCo guarantees Class D tranche subscribed by the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and Chandra Asri Trading Company Pte. Ltd. (CATCO), a subsidiary of PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk, in Clifford Capital’s Bayfront Infrastructure Management transaction for Bayfront Infrastructure Capital V USD 508.3 million infrastructure asset-backed securities. This is the second collaboration between Bayfront and GuarantCo following the first transaction in September last year https://lnkd.in/e6EcTsiE It is the first time that BPI and CATCO have invested in a debt issuance guaranteed by GuarantCo. Whilst the Class A1, Class A1-SU, Class B and Class C Notes are rated investment grade by Moody's Ratings and would be listed on the Singapore Exchange, the Class D Notes (amounting to USD 20.3 million), which are unrated and unlisted, benefit from a guarantee from GuarantCo (rated A1 by Moody's Ratings and AA- by Fitch Ratings) for principal and interest amounts payable. The provision of the guarantee by GuarantCo in relation to the Class D Notes helps to support the financing or refinancing of sustainable infrastructure projects and infrastructure debt as permitted by The Private Infrastructure Development Group's investment policy.
