🌍🚀 Reconomy Unveils 10-Point Plan to Revolutionise Waste Sector! 🚀🌍 Exciting news! Reconomy has launched a groundbreaking 10-point regulatory framework to help the new government reform the waste sector which could boost the UK economy by £82 billion and create nearly 450,000 jobs by 2035! This is hot off the back of the General Election with Steve Reed, Labour’s new DEFRA Secretary, already laying out his ambition to create a roadmap to move Britain to a zero waste economy. ♻️ Framework Goals: 1. Set national minimum sustainability standards for waste providers. 2. Develop a new national infrastructure strategy. 3. Ensure consistent and separate waste collection across the UK. 4. Increase the frequency of Local Authority recycling collections. 5. Establish baseline data for continuous waste monitoring. 6. Implement Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes. 7. Introduce eco-design standards with mandatory returnable packaging. 8. Ringfence EPR funding for investments and subsidies. 9. Digitise resource tracking in real-time. 10. Create an independent governing body to drive change. The framework would also help to reduce emissions from waste, (currently 6% of UK GHG emissions) and align efforts with national goals to keep global warming below 2°C. Guy Wakeley, Chief Executive of Reconomy, said: “We are thrilled to launch this framework to promote the circular economy and build a more sustainable future. It’s crucial for the new government to take steps to improve resource management and meet our climate objectives.” 💬 Download the report and join the conversation - we’d love to hear your thoughts! https://lnkd.in/emvqf-t5 #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #WasteManagement #NetZero #ClimateChange #EmissionsManagement #Reconomy #Sancroft Sancroft

🌍👕 The Impact of Textiles 👕🌍 In 2020, textile consumption in the EU led to a carbon footprint of 270kg per person. The textile industry significantly impacts our planet, contributing to carbon emissions, waste, and pollution. Annually, 92 million tonnes of textile waste are produced, with much ending up in landfills, and 14 million tonnes of microplastics enter our oceans. The industry must evolve. Businesses and individuals can help by: - Adopting Sustainable Practices: Source eco-friendly materials and optimise supply chains. - Innovating in Recycling and Waste Reduction: Use new technologies to reduce textile waste. - Educating and Engaging: Raise awareness about sustainable textile consumption. At Reconomy, we are committed to making a difference. Our ReDress solution helps businesses navigate textile Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations. ReDress supports organizations in reducing their environmental footprint and becoming EPR ready. Let’s act today for a sustainable tomorrow. 🐑🔋🌟 The Baa-ttery Campaign Shortlisted for Global Good Awards! 🌟🐑🔋 We’re thrilled to announce that The Baa-ttery Campaign, a collaborative initiative with Renewi and Valpak Limited, has been shortlisted for a prestigious Global Good Award in the Behaviour Change Campaign category! 🏆 🌍 About the Campaign: A staggering 3.2 million batteries are discarded in the county’s waste each year, equal to the weight of over 3650 Herdwick sheep! 😲 Batteries should never be disposed of in regular waste or recycling bins due to the risk of explosion or ignition, which can lead to fires and serious safety hazards. A battery recycling campaign with a difference has been launched in Cumbria at Renewi’s Hespin Woods site to encourage more battery recycling, featuring a sheep as its mascot! 🐑 With support from Cumberland Council, Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service, Plus3K, and Renewi 🌍 Why This Matters: 🍃 Environmental Impact: Improper battery disposal can harm our environment. The Baa-ttery Campaign raises awareness about the importance of responsible recycling to prevent pollution and protect our natural habitats. ✅♻️Community Engagement: Through creative and engaging strategies, we’ve successfully mobilised the community to adopt sustainable habits and take action. 📈 Innovation and Collaboration: This initiative highlights the power of partnership between Valpak and Renewi, combining expertise and resources to drive meaningful change. Together, we can make a difference! 🌟 Read more here: https://okt.to/AueQ7Z #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #Recycling #BatteryRecycling #ThinkCircular #Reconomy

🌿🌟 Celebrating Sustainability and Student Achievement! 🌟🌿 We're thrilled to share a heartwarming follow-up to Taylor Wimpey winning Reconomy’s Think Circular Award back in May! 🎉 Recently, students from Severndale Specialist Academy's Futures Programme (for 16 to 18-year-olds) visited Taylor Wimpey’s Lily Hay development in Shrewsbury. These talented students have transformed used pallets from the development, delivered by Reconomy, into beautiful bird boxes to enhance biodiversity at Lily Hay. 🐦💚 A group of students proudly visited the site to deliver these bird boxes, showcasing their hard work and dedication. Here's what Taylor Wimpey Site Managers, Gareth Richards & Shaun Gordon, had to say: "The students from Severndale Academy’s Futures Programme have done us proud. We are absolutely delighted with the bird boxes and can see the pride and passion that has gone into making them. We will install the bird boxes around the development for our residents, and of course, the birds to enjoy." Terry Wootton from Reconomy added: "This project not only reduces waste and supports sustainability goals, but also boosts local biodiversity. It provides invaluable hands-on experience for the students and allows Reconomy to educate them on environmental benefits, fostering a new generation of sustainability champions." This initiative is part of Taylor Wimpey’s ongoing commitment to supporting biodiversity net gain and nature enhancements, including hedgehog highways, bat boxes, and bug hotels. 🌱🌍 Thank you to everyone involved for making this project a soaring success! 🙌 #TaylorWimpey #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #Reconomy #ThinkCircular #Biodiversity
