    What causes recruitment start-ups to fail? Along the journey of launching 100+ recruitment start-ups, we've learned a lot about what works and what doesn't. We've also had to make the painful decision not to work with some super talented recruiters where we see too much risk in their start-up plans. So what have we learned? What puts your potential start-up at risk? ❌ Lack of detailed 'Ideal Customer Profile' (ICP) + Value proposition. Knowing exactly who you'll service and why they'll choose to work with you is the foundation that everything's built on in the critical first 90-180 days. Figuring out your niche, region, level of seniority etc. as you go is a recipe for slow growth and frustration. ❌ Unproven go-to-market strategy. It's energising and exciting to have the freedom to build your business your way. But when you get started, you need clients and placements - fast. Sure, experiment with new markets and sales approaches once you're up and running. But your early business plan should be built around what you KNOW works. ❌ Lack of full-time focus. Having no more boss + no more 9-5 is liberating. But it's also unstructured and open-ended. It's phenomenally difficult to grow a thriving, profitable start-up with part-time effort. *** RecruitHub's founder network includes 20+ recruiters on pace to deliver $500k-1m+ in personal sales in 2024. They own the full fees, they own the client relationships. And 100% of them built their businesses on tried-and-tested strategies within a tightly-defined niche market. Simple, but effective.

    When I started the business in January, I couldn’t have dreamed how hard this job was.   I launched Kodu in January this year and, honestly, I thought it was going to be much easier.   You see so many success stories on here. Founders winning huge projects on their first day etc. Good for them!   But I’ve learnt that for most founders, the first few months are flipping hard work!   2 months in and I was questioning whether I’d made a mistake...   ...I didn’t get my first real project on until month 3.   But that was the first green shoot, and the confidence boost I desperately needed.   Despite the slow start, I’m incredibly proud of what Kodu is becoming and what I’ve achieved so far.   I’ll be forever grateful for the love and support of my partner Rebekah. Thank you for believing in me and being my rock.   Thank you to Edmund Blogg and the whole community at RecruitHub for your continued support and guidance.   And a huge thank you to my candidates and clients for putting your faith in me and trusting the process.
