Breaking: Scotland’s Flow Country wins UNESCO World Heritage status! 🥳 This is huge. Including RSPB Forsinard Flows, the Flow Country is a vital carbon sink and habitat for precious wildlife. It's the first ever peat bog to gain this status, too 🏆 This is all thanks to fantastic collaborative work led by the Flow Country Partnership, including ourselves, NatureScot, the Highland Council and others. This all means the Flow Country will get the protection and attention it deserves. Congratulations to everyone involved!
About us
Passionate about nature, dedicated to saving it. Since we started on our mission in 1889, the threats to nature have continued to grow, but we've grown to meet them too. We’re now the largest nature conservation charity in the UK (although our work stretches far beyond that), consistently delivering successful conservation, forging powerful new partnerships with other organisations and inspiring others to stand up and give nature the home it deserves.

£5.9bn Needed for Nature-Friendly Farming! 📢👩🌾 Our joint report with National Trust and The Wildlife Trusts, reveals that the UK Government must significantly increase its nature-friendly farming budget to £5.9bn annually to meet critical climate and nature targets. What you need to know: - Current funding is inadequate, risking increased pollution, loss of wildlife, and not enough support for nature-friendly farmers. - Nature-friendly farming reduces pollution, uses fewer chemicals, promotes natural pest control, and boosts wildlife, including vital pollinators. - Investing in sustainable farming is essential for long-term food security and climate resilience. With 70% of our UK land farmed, farmers are crucial players in the fight against climate change and nature loss—the two biggest threats to our food security—but they cannot do it alone. This report is a wake-up call for increased ambition and funding to secure our future. Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eRCxPVJy 🚜 🚜 🚜 #SustainableAgriculture #NatureFriendlyFarming

Kicking off the week with some feel-good news! 💚 We're thrilled to share that Spoonbills are making a remarkable return on RSPB reserves across the UK! For the first time since the 17th century, these iconic birds are breeding in Cambridgeshire at RSPB Ouse Washes, marking a historic milestone. Over at Fairburn Ings in Yorkshire, nine adorable baby spoonbills —affectionately nicknamed "Teaspoons"— have already fledged this year, setting the stage for a record-breaking breeding season. This incredible success is a testament to RSPB's dedicated management of these essential wetland habitats, allowing Spoonbills to thrive once again. From Havergate Island in Suffolk to Fairburn Ings, we're witnessing the powerful impact of habitat restoration and stewardship. Join us in celebrating this conservation triumph and the return of this magnificent species to our wetlands! 🎉 🎉 🎉 #ConservationSuccess #Spoonbills #FeelGoodNews

Swipe to grow a wildflower meadow! 🌻 >>> Did you know? Since the 1930s, 97% of our wildflower meadows have vanished, taking with them vital homes for birds, bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. But these tiny heroes are essential - supporting a third of the food we eat. That’s why we’re excited about our partnership with Ella's Kitchen. Together, we’re working to restore and protect 30 million square feet of wildflower and grassland meadows by 2030, at nine sites across the UK – including Blacktoft Sands below! Visit an RSPB reserve this summer and see first-hand how we're bringing back these beautiful habitats and the wildlife they support. 🌻 🌼 🌻 🌼
