The Queer Realities Director’s Lab is a brand-new initiative open to directors who are currently developing a queer documentary project. 10 selected directors will have the opportunity to explore and play with the format of documentary through curated masterclasses and workshops with international and UK filmmakers, artists and other industry experts taking place online and onsite in South Yorkshire region, between September 2024 and February 2025. The Queer Realities Director’s Lab entries will close Thursday 1 August 2024, 17:00 GMT/12:00 EST. Queer Realities Director's Lab is delivered by Sheffield DocFest, through the BFI Creative Challenge Fund, made possible with National Lottery funding.

She has played a crucial role in the development of Sheffield DocFest throughout the years and we will miss her greatly. We are now seeking a new Chair of the Board of Trustees. Employed by the Bhutanese government, Amber Gurung travels across mountainous regions to gather data from citizens to measure the country’s gross national happiness.
