🌍We’re proud of the contribution our EWI and brick slip system has made to the sustainability credentials of Unite Students’ Morriss House, one of their most sustainable new builds ever completed. Our A1 rated clay brick slip system has helped improve thermal performance as well as reducing material and weight. 👇 We worked with RG Group Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson Ltd and Stoneguard to deliver this distinctive and highly sustainable facade in Nottingham. 🧱 Morriss House consists of five blocks with combinations of over 8,000m2 red and buff clay slips. Our Morriss House property in Nottingham is one of the most sustainable new builds we’ve ever completed: https://lnkd.in/e8e2vyyd 🌎 It's one of our first projects to include full life-cycle analysis from early in the design process, allowing our design team to evaluate different design, construction and material options. Innovations included: 1. Reduced piling in foundations due to the use of underlying bedrock 2. The use of high recycled content aluminium windows; 3. An innovative brick-tile façade to improve thermal performance and reduce material and weight. The building services make use of air-source heat pumps, onsite solar PV, and smart-networked heating controls to reduce operational energy consumption as well. Progress on restoration project - The Old College, Aberystwyth, led by our experienced Wilmslow team. 'The previous sandstone hood moulds on the Seddon South elevation to the building were in various states of disrepair due to many years of being worn away by the sea air. Where the conservation architects specification was to repair, we used a 3 stage process of de-scaling, pinning and wiring and finally the building up and shaping of the approved mortar to the stones original profile.' #restoration #conservation #stoneguard #stone
