💬“I enjoyed being able to challenge myself at the same time as fundraising for the charity.” 🏃 Last September, Isabelle joined our #RuntheRiver charity run along the Thames. “I love running but always tend to get out of the habit during the colder months. “I hadn't run a full 5k in years so really needed something to motivate me and a date to work towards! "On the day I ran slowly but steadily and completed the whole 5k." “The final stretch over Tower Bridge was such a highlight. I couldn't believe I'd actually made it!” Isabelle’s connection to our cause made the experience even more meaningful. “I once taught English at several schools across London and have seen first-hand the impact of Teach First's work on schools and pupils. Excellent education should be a right, not a privilege.” 💪🏅 Help children fulfil their potential. Run today. Transform tomorrow. 👉 Sign up now: https://lnkd.in/ek-QYDTU

👋 Meet Karen, Assistant Vice Principal and school Careers Lead. She’s sharing her passion for careers education. “We’ve got high levels of pupils from more deprived backgrounds who quite often have lower aspirations. "They're aware of the jobs they see daily, like those in school, emergency services, the NHS, and their parents' jobs. But when you start to move beyond that immediate sphere, there are gaps in knowledge' "It's been amazing working with our Year 11s, they all were offered or found work experience placements, and employer feedback was phenomenal. “This 'wow moment' reinforced the need for careers education to help pupils thrive." “If you'd asked me 12 months ago, would I want to be a careers lead, I would have probably said no. But the careers leader is the part of my job that I'm enjoying the most. “The reassurance, the knowledge, and the support that the Teach First Careers Leader programme has provided has been phenomenal. “I've come away from every single session feeling really enthusiastic, full of ideas.” Find how we can support your school to raise pupil outcomes and aspirations with our Careers Leader Programme: https://lnkd.in/eA9-fxq

💼 Elena calls the transition from being a newly qualified teacher ‘the hardest year’ of her career. “I’ve been involved in the Early Career Framework (ECF) programme both as a mentor and an induction tutor. 🎓 “I’m passionate about ensuring early career teachers receive the support they need for a seamless transition from training to teaching. “In the early stages of your career, you should have access to support for as long as possible while you find your feet. 🌱 “The two-year ECF programme offers flexibility and research-backed support, without overwhelming pressure to meet deadlines and drown in admin.” “It’s so rewarding when new teachers see their own progress and start to reflect on how far they have come.” ✨ 📝 Register your school's interest today to learn more about the available support. https://lnkd.in/eMRY9bVb

Catherine Thorp, Head of Learning at Teach First shares her thoughts on the relevance of flexibility in supporting trainee teachers in their career development through the Early Career Framework (ECF) programme. 💬 “We've been looking at how to make our programmes flexible and personalised. “We know that adaptive approaches to educating are essential for all children to make progress. “So, it's not surprising that this also applies to the development of our teachers and leaders. “Last year, we decided to release all our content for early career teachers (ECTs) and mentors at the start of the ECF programme. “This allowed our ECTs the flexibility to work through the ECF programme in a way that suited them. “We have also provided optional modules. These modules focus on wellbeing, excellent teaching in special schools, and leadership.” 📝 Register your school's interest today to learn more about the available support for early career teachers. https://lnkd.in/eMRY9bVb

South West Institute for Teaching, one of our delivery partners, reflects on our partnership: “We wanted to create an easy and coherent route to accessing professional development for teachers and schools. "Now we cover over 500 schools across Devon, Cornwall, Plymouth, and Torbay. "We’ve been working with Teach First on the National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) for four years. “Their experience and knowledge underpin the programmes at every level, helping us meet the needs of the teachers we work with. “Our teachers appreciate that the programmes fit their busy schedules, providing valuable new knowledge and opportunities for reflection. This has greatly impacted their pupils and schools.” Find out how our NPQs empower teachers: https://lnkd.in/dzU2YvEA

We’re pleased to see the UK government’s focus on improving educational standards in the #KingsSpeech which will break down the barriers to opportunity across the country. Our CEO Russell Hobby said: “Recruiting an additional 6,500 teachers for our classrooms will make a huge difference. “As a first step, we hope to see an increase in trainee teachers' salaries, which could transform the pipeline of talent we desperately need.” To deliver real change, we must prioritise our efforts to schools serving the most deprived communities, where additional resources can help every child fulfil their potential. We look forward to seeing the government’s progress on these commitments.
