#PrizeDraw : Seek out the new #Scriveners Hall Plaque, take your photo there and tagged us in the post before Wednesday 2 October 2024 and we'll enter you in a prize draw. The #MasterScrivener will make the draw and the winner will be announced at our #AutumnDinner at Apothecaries Hall on Tuesday 15 October. We'll only put your name in once, but we'll add you if you're in the photo and are tagged in the text, along with The Scriveners' Company, so get a group of friends along for the photo-shoot. #CommonHall is on Monday 30 September and Noble Street is only a hop, skip and a jump from #Guildhall, so drop round on your way to vote for the next #LordMayor if you can't get there over the summer.

Did you know that the Company is responsible for setting, invigilating and marking #ScrivenerNotary exams? This morning three candidates will be sitting their Advanced Notarial Law and Practice paper. #ScrivenerNotaries must also pass exams in foreign law relevant to notarial practice and foreign language exams. Exams take place in January and July each year. #ExamSeason #Translation #Languages #Law

At our Court meeting last week we admitted five new members - David Perry was admitted to the Freedom; James Campbell, Jake Humbles and Philippa Slaney were admitted to the Livery and David White, Garter Principal, King of Arms was admitted Honoris causa to the #Livery. #MasterScrivener, Paul Williams, gets straight to work having been installed as Master last evening. This morning he represented the Company at the Annual Service of Dedication of the #ImperialSocietyOfKnightsBachelor at St Paul's Cathedral, London. The music, led by Andrew Carwood, included the hymns 'Christ is made the sure foundation', 'Love Divine', 'City of God', 'Thine be the Glory' and anthems 'My lovely one' (music by Finzi), 'Ave Maria' (setting by Gounod based on BWV 846), 'Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace' (music by SS Wesley). The address was given by the Rt Rev'd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally, Bishop of London, Prelate of the Imperial Society.

We are delighted that Emily is continuing as Assistant Examinations Officer. She and Sara make a positive impact on the Company and we are grateful for all they do. Yesterday we installed our Master and Wardens for the coming year. We will introduce them to you over the next few days. Paul Williams is new #MasterScrivener, Andrew Claudet has become Upper Warden and Andrew Fenemore-Jones is now Renter Warden. In his first address to the Company, the Master Scrivener acknowledged and thanked the Outgoing Master, John Hammond, for the excellent work he has done over the last twelve months and mentioned many of the celebrations and events we have held in that time to mark our 650th anniversary. The final duty of the Outgoing Master, before chairing his final Court Meeting, was to unveil the plaque in Noble Street marking the site of the Hall we owned there in the seventeenth century.
