Master's Installation 2nd July 2024   At the Common Hall meeting for The Stationers' Company, Paul Wilson was installed as the New Master of the Company.   Here seen with his Upper Warden, Doug Wills (L) and Under Warden, Ian Leggett (R)   Paul Wilson served in the British Army from 1976-1986 where he received extensive language training before transferring to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. There, he worked on the Eastern Europe and Southern Africa desks and served as First Secretary (Political) at the British High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan from 1991-93. In 1992 he was one of the diplomatic staff on the Foreign Office mission to the new Mujahideen government in Kabul.   In 1994 Paul joined De La Rue PLC, the leading high security printers. He held a series of appointments in De La Rue’s banknote division before being appointed managing director of De La Rue’s Identity Systems business in 2003.    From 2007 until his retirement in 2015, Wilson was responsible for De La Rue’s relationships with the British Government and parliamentarians. The Stationers’ Company hosted the Shine School Media Awards 2024 today and what a fantastic event indeed. We extend heartfelt thanks to all involved in making this event a resounding success. The Shine School Media Awards is a free national competition that rewards a diversity of talent from secondary schools across the UK who work on the writing, editing, design and fund-raising for a school newspaper, magazine or multimedia project such as a podcast or digital publication.   The annual culmination of each year’s Shine Awards is a gala ceremony held in central London every summer with student workshops and incredible guest speakers.   The significant benefits of starting a Shine project include an enrichment of the school curriculum, an incentive to creativity and the chance for pupils to win national recognition and in the process enrich their CV and applications for university or college.   The Shine Awards is an endeavour of The Stationers’ Foundation, the charitable arm of The Worshipful Company of Stationers' and Newspaper Makers, one of the UK’s ancient livery companies.   More About Shine School Media Awards: https://lnkd.in/dCBXh-cY   Here are some images from the memorable occasion.   #JoinStationers #StationersCompany #StationersHall #LiveryCompany #JoinStationers #ShineMediaAwards #StationersFoundation

So so proud and excited to announce that Bex and George became members of The Stationers' Company on Monday! . This historic livery in the City of London represents the communications, content, and of course print and stationery industries, and is a wonderful representation of old traditions moving into the future. . Founded over 600 years ago, with merchants selling their wares from “stations” in the shadows of St. Paul’s Cathedral, this is where the beginnings of “stationery” were formed. Starting with illuminators and manuscript writers, the Company has always embraced new technology, meaning it has managed to stay relevant throughout its existence. From Caxton’s original printing press, to today’s online and digital media, The Stationers has never been afraid to adapt and learn, and has done so much for our industry, from creating copyright to championing education.
