I'm motivated this morning with the news of the growing buoyancy of the independent music sector vs the major label sector 🏆 Luminate's midyear music report suggests that there's growth in the independent artists share of streams across all sizes of artist. A whopping 62% of artists who generated 1M-10M streams on Spotify in H1, 2024 are independent. These artists are resourceful, creative, dynamic and using tools such as un:hurd music, Audiomack, Feature.fm, Lounges.tv and Breakr to cut through the noise 🪄 With more innovations to support artists in the space than ever and now more music fans on streaming platforms than ever (Spotify reported a 14% YoY increase in MAU's up to 626 million MAUs), the opportunities are there for the taking for independent artists who are savvy and committed 🤝 I'm proud of our music-tech ecosystem's contribution to this growth and may the growth continue! ☄️ #musicindustry #independentartists #musictech #unhurd #luminate #spotify

An artist said to me recently, 'the number of tasks I'm being served on the un:hurd music product is overwhelming, can you help me organise these?' 🤔 In the same conversation, another artist said 'I landed on some great playlists with a track I pitched a few weeks ago, I want to re-pitch my latest track to the same playlists that featured my last track, but I can't see them.
