Our housekeeping teams are a trusted, supportive presence for our residents. They play an important role in picking up student wellbeing concerns: https://lnkd.in/em6Q39Nq We caught up with Margaret Graham (our Glasgow Housekeeping Team Leader), Liz and Radi (our Glasgow Housekeeping Team Members) to hear about a typical day in their role, how they support the student experience, and the importance of teamwork. Speaking to Jen Steadman, Margaret said: "I don’t mind if they're sitting in a kitchen with a student having a wee cup of tea and a gab, because that’s part of their job and it’s part of making that student feel at home." 💻 Read the full interview: https://lnkd.in/em6Q39Nq 📹 Video by Corinne Riley #highereducation

The first-known historic reference to our Houghall Court property in Durham is 1115 AD. Oliver Cromwell is later thought to have been invited to the family home there. The property is home to 222 students and located inside East Durham College’s Houghall campus. The city centre is less than a mile away, over the road is Durham Uni’s Sports Centre and a bus service to all campuses. Our Stories Behind Our Properties campaign highlights the variety and depth of our buildings. Read more about our properties, here: https://lnkd.in/eFdP46dW

Yesterday we delivered a strong set of half-year results: https://lnkd.in/erFJ_sJV We couldn't have done this without our talented teams working hard to create a great place to live, work and invest. Here's a look at some of our highlights from the year so far 👇
-
We're pleased to have purchased a key central London site to provide new student homes and support our university partners: https://lnkd.in/ee43Y45g Kings Place, near Borough Underground Station, will be a 444-bed property and open for the 2027/28 academic year. Located on Borough High Street, it will include 308 studio flats and 136 en-suite rooms in cluster flats for students, eight key worker residential apartments and a further 18,000 sq ft of workspace accommodation. The scheme will have excellent connectivity to King's College London and University of the Arts London, amongst others, and include a cinema room, gym, pavilion and terraces. Our London development pipeline now totals 3,200 beds for delivery over the next five years with a total planned investment of over £800 million. Tom Brewerton, our Group Development Director, said: “We're delighted with the acquisition of Kings Place; a high-quality development in a central London location close to a range of London’s leading universities and Borough Underground Station." #Development

We've published our interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2024, reporting continued strong demand and we’re confident of 98-99% occupancy for the 2024/25 academic year. With a growing supply-demand imbalance for student accommodation, and the population of UK 18-year-olds set to increase by 16% by 2030, we are uniquely positioned to deliver new supply of high-quality, affordable accommodation. We’ve also successfully raised £450million in new equity which we'll use to support the delivery of our £1.5billion pipeline. We're seeing increased demand from our valued university partners and are pleased to have a record development pipeline focused in Russell Group cities. Over the first half of the year, planning consent was secured for 2,400 beds in London, Bristol and Glasgow and we are delighted to have acquired a new site in Zone 1, London due for delivery in 2027.
