PwC has forecast that ads will overtake in-app payments and subscriptions to become the primary source of revenue for app-based gaming in the next five years. The report, 'Perspectives from the Global Entertainment & Media Outlook 2024–2028', said: "Historically, revenues from video gaming have been dominated by subscriptions and purchases of games. But advertising is gaining prominence."
