I've had my Google pixle watch for about a week now, and I'll share my first impressions. I'm sixty-three years old and this technology is something I've been waiting for, for over fifty years. I'll come back in a month and share my experience with it then.

It looks fantastic, sleek and thin. It's a beautiful expression of technology and styling.

It does everything I need it to do, and it does it well. I'm running the cardio monitor to detect a-fib, so the battery life is pretty short. It's a small price to pay for a good cardiac monitor. If I have to charge it every day, it's all good.

I love the screen, and the fact that I can read and respond to text messages and email by voice, very cool.

The only complaint I could possibly have, is the battery life, it's very short. I probably need to turn off some of apps I have running. Other than that, I'm loving the new watch. It is very cool!

EDIT : after the watch did all the updates, the battery life improved dramatically. I easily get two days of use per charge. It charges very quickly (in about an hour) and I am very pleased with my decision to purchase a Google pixle watch!

This watch has been a total game changer. I bought it when I was postpartum and couldn't keep track of anything! The find my phone feature was a wonderful addition and saved me so much time. It's nice as a working mom to have something that you can set reminders on and be able to be in contact with your family at all times.
One feature that I really enjoy is the Google wallet so I don't have to rummage around my bag pay for things, and the fact that the watch automatically locks itself when you take it off your wrist, but stays unlocked when it is on your wrist.
You can send messages in multiple ways such as text-to-speech voice recording or typing it out on a little keyboard in your watch. The options help for when you're in a hurry or when you want to be subtle.
The Google maps feature is also very nice, especially if you are navigating an unknown place. It will let you know when you need to turn by vibrating and can even display a small map on the watch.
You can tap twice on the button for the assistant.
Google also allows you to download games and customize your watch face.
The other reviews mentioned poor battery life and I agree Google could definitely approve on their battery life. I have mine on battery saver regularly and it automatically turns to night mode when I plug in my phone for the night which is very convenient and saves battery. But if you have a good charging routine, it is good enough and the features are incredible and outweigh this weakness.

Battery life is the only thing I was really worried about when I bought this. Does everything I want it to do.

    Update:

I've had this watch for about four days now and found out a few things. LTE and WiFi use a god awful lot of battery. I ran multiple tests with the battery on this watch and think they would be beneficial to provide in a review.

    Test Results:

    • Battery Charging Time
The watch was completely dead when I opened the box. Went from 0 to 50% in less than a half hour and finished it's charging in about another half hour. In total charging from 0 to 100% was about an hour.

    • Battery Life
When I had LTE and WiFi on, It used a whole lot more battery life than it did with it only when needed, or off. All of these battery tests were run from 5:30 AM to 5:30 PM. With LTE and WiFi on all day I was left with about 15 precent left. With LTE and WiFi on only when needed, I was left with about 40 precent left. With it off all day, (Only Bluetooth was on) I was left with 60 precent. When I ran these battery life tests, tilt to wake was off to save battery. Your personal results may vary depending on usage.

    * BATTERY TESTS END HERE *
    --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

    My Review:

    • Quality
Watch feels very high quality. Came in a really well packaged box. Felt really nice to open.

    • Personalization
You are able to change out bands you buy aftermarket, or from the Google store. My recommendation is to buy aftermarket bands. Google's bands are overpriced. You are also able to change the watch face and color (depends on face) to your liking.

    • Setup
Setup was very seamless. It was really just clicking buttons and agreeing to TOS and things like that. With eSim activation it was very seamless with Google Fi. If you use any other service providers. I don't know how that will work.

    • LTE Costs?
With Google Fi, there is no extra cost to adding your watch to your plan. (Max. of 1 watch per user on plan) Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other mobile providers costs may vary. I recommend for you to create a customer service ticket before buying this watch with LTE if you use anything else other than Google Fi.

    • Emergency Features
Wear OS 4 on the Pixel Watch includes fall detection, safety check, SOS, Medical Info Access, and Emergency Sharing for your safety and protection. For more information about what those features are, I recommend for you to visit the Google page for the Pixel Watch.

    • Apps Functionality
Apps are fairly smooth. Pixel Watch comes with a 6 months fitbit premium trial. Both apps setup is fairly smooth. Fitbit is also a part of health Connect for Pixel phones so it will link up with other fitness apps you have for your phone or watch.

more comfortable than Apple watch (bonus tip on Dexcom readings)

I've gone back and forth between Apple and Android, and I've always thought that the best thing about iPhones was the Apple Watch. I've always been disappointed that Android users didn't have a really good smart watch option. But now we do! The Pixel Watch does everything I want it to do, plus it looks great and is very comfortable for my narrow wrists. I have had a few little hiccups, but I expected that since the device is so new. Google will continue to release software improvements, but it's certainly good enough right now.

The battery is not ideal, but I can get by with charging once a day. It will charge ~30% quickly but it takes over an hour for a full charge. If you don't need a new smartwatch right now, it might be worth waiting for the second generation so they can improve the battery life.

[This advice is posted Nov 2022 and may become outdated very quickly] For my diabetic friends: It is possible to get your Dexcom readings on the Pixel Watch, but it's not out-of-the-box. (That's Dexcom's fault and true for all Android watches). If you want to get your Dexcom readings on your watch, take some aspirin first, and then search Reddit for your options. There are multiple options but I had the best luck with an app called G-Watch Wear App. In the photo of my watchface, the Dexcom reading is the middle circle, and I also have the option to open more detailed info. When I had the apple watch my Dexcom data would fail to update but there was no way of knowing. On the G-Watch app, there is a little timestamp showing when it collected the data. Dexcom refreshes every 5 minutes, so if the timestamp is more than 5 minutes old you may want to check your phone for your most current reading.

I am a long time pixel phone user and huge supporter of Google products in general but this watch is such an utter failure I can't begin to describe how infuriating it is to just have to try to get it to function in the simplest of ways on a daily basis. The ux is stupid and many actions are similar to perform different functions so the phone is constantly confused as to what it is you actually want to do. What's even worse is that when you can get it to actually perform any simple tasks that you've been frustrated to get to start it either stops working or incorrectly records the information. I went on a 16 mile bike ride that took an hour and 40 minutes when I got home to see the route I had taken the pixel had registered a 0.7 mi ride that lasted an hour and 40 minutes what a total piece of crap. Seriously I think if other pixel users are equally as disgusted there should be a class action lawsuit for this utter negligence of design. And last but not least the phone continually disconnects from your watch even though they're within two or three feet of each other for no apparent reason whatsoever so in summary take your $300 and blow it on something that will actually bring joy to your life for an instant because all you'll get out of this piece of crap watch is endless frustration.

Love the soft white wrist band (it's not stark white) It comes with the larger wrist band attached and the smaller one in the box. I have a very small wrist so I switched out the band (super easy to do...just pinch and snap in place) the band fits perfect and snug on the wrist. The set up is a piece of cake, literally took minutes to get it up and running. Because I have an droid phone, it was super easy to link all of my Google accounts. You need to use your phone to set everything up on your watch. Just download the app from the Google play store and easy peasy!! I have been wearing my watch now for a couple of weeks and I could not be happier. Highly recommend! :)

It stays charged all day and keeps me aware of my movement. I love being able to see quickly if I need to respond to a call or text without finding my phone. I find it difficult to text a long message, but a quick reply is no problem. So grateful for the gift I didn't know I needed!

    Returning Google pixel Watch:
Let's start with why I wanted to buy this watch. I'm a big fan of Google and the Google pixel phone series and a big fan of the Fitbit. So this combination of a Google pixel watch that works with Fitbit sounded like a dream come true!
My Fitbit charge 6 was dying, as we know all these do eventually, so I figured this was an opportune time to give the Google pixel Fitbit watch a chance.

Now for the reasons why I have returned it!:
** Battery life, I have to charge it at least twice a day, I was feeling like a slave to the charger.
**It's cumbersome to see what my hourly activity steps were at. Too many taps to get to see where I was in my hourly steps. And I was missing the notifications, which meant I went through several days of not getting all my steps in every hour. Due to a foot injury, I rely heavily on those notifications to make sure I get up and walk at least 500 steps an hour. This feature was not working for me.
** It's too big on my wrist.
** It doesn't accurately track steps. Often I would find that I would look up my step count, then a few minutes later checking it again and see that the count was lower.
** Trying to scroll through to find a setting, or an app is annoying.
** I couldn't get the hang of setting up the notifications so I would hear them on my phone and not through the watch.
Meaning my phone would ring, and my watch is ringing a different ring at the same time. If I muted my watch it also muted my phone. This wasn't working for me.
** The same with text messages, I muted them on my watch but then I wasn't getting the notifications on my phone either. The only way I knew I was getting any messages was by looking at my phone. So it seemed the whole purpose of combining Google pixel phone notifications into a watch just wasn't working for me. I was shutting off the Google pixel apps so I could just have a regular Fitbit watch again. Which made me think why do I have this watch?

** Do not disturb on my phone doesn't transfer to watch, have to do it in two places. That is a pain

I'm going back to just a regular Fitbit, that's cheaper and simpler to use. My life is not that complicated that I need a phone and a watch to keep me up to date.
