Packaging - Very nice

Built Quality - Super, though it's plastic. Could fit in a pocket if you want to, though I won't recommend. To preserve the freshness, it's better to put on a good cover from day 0. It not only keeps the device and display safe, the design options of the covers also adds value. I got the one with apple blossom art and it looks fabulous.

Display - Oh my goodness!! I got what I paid for. Till date my reading device had been the amoled phone and the lcd of my laptop/desktop. Very soothing for the eyes and even after several hours of reading, no strain is felt. I prefer to read at 0 brightness at day time (also at night under well lighting condition). The text appear really crisp thanks to 300ppi and mobi books. I've read so many complaints with PDF handling, but its not so bad under the landscape mode, as long as the PDF has bigger texts (scanned PDFs are not as good, but still bearable; something is better than nothing)
Due to better processor, large PDFs/scanned documents/comics to take a while during navigation and I can imagine it's predecessors to rather crawl. Under the sun, the text looks even better. Compared to all other technologies, e ink display certainly stands out and its price is quite justified, as there is no other worthy competitor.

Audible support is not there, still Bluetooth can be connected for the text to speech feature and listen to the books. A feature, certainly I haven't found useful as I don't need anyways, but it's worth mentioning as i didn't come across despite so many online reviews about PaperWhite 2021.

User experience - 100% good.
Navigation is well. Again, if there is a lag, know that it could be because of too many pages in the book, or due to processing images. Mostly I've heard people complain who don't know what's under the hood and how it works. I noticed partial ghosting initally but a page refresh certainly helps and it certainly is not a big deal at all. I know my device is working really fine

Space - 8GB is so sufficient.
I had a doubt if I should go with 32Gb variant as my collection of readables exceed 25gigs. I'm happy instead as my library now shows more stuffs than I can complete this year. I'm not into manga, but certainly wanted to try reading comics once. Maybe I'll start pencil sketching someday, seeing how gorgeous those comic graphics look in this one.

Price - You know it's affordable when you are earning/have really good pocket money/generous relatives. Considering you will save your eyes, read without distraction and carry your library with you, decent performing reader is a must have, if at all you do or want to read books.

I'm using send to mail option (sometimes)/Calibre app/import PDFs and mobi (mostly) directly into the device to manage my collection. As long as the PDF/mobi contain bigger text, any language books can be well read.

This has been a birthday gift to myself and I can't be happier this 2022.

TL;DR : Buy it even if you are not an avid reader (Granted, you must not be averse of reading books), it has a phenomenal display, The screen is remarkable, bundled features are down to the purpose and the device justifies its cost.

This is not a First impression but a review after ~1 month of use

I bought it as I was concerned by my screentime on mobile, and it was getting unhealthy (2~5 hours), I heard that your mind just doesn't like getting bored and you pick up anything to do in the meantime, mobile being closest to us, keeps the company.
Bought it for 10k during the sale, and voila, over the course of two weeks I have dropped my screentime to 20 minutes, I have forgone the urge to carry my phone everywhere in my pocket all the time
so a good purchase for me

For the device, The first thing that impressed me was its Display, I have seen and used anti-glare display on laptop but this is nothing like the other, the e-ink and anti glare make a great combination, the images won't do it justice and it is best experienced in person, it truly feels like paper (not a gimmick), you can literally turn the brightness to zero and sit in ambient light or the sunlight for a great read, no artificial lights necessary. loved it

The battery is great as it is an e-ink device with almost nothing running in the background, lasts me two weeks with ~2 hours of reading everyday (haven't seen it go below 50 in over a week)

The software is well thought out and barebones, nothing that is not needed. Liked the goodreads integration, Wikipedia, dictionary and the ability to browse sites for articles (although not so functional on a display like this), you can create collections for specific books and filter them, there is everything that you would think of in a device like this

For the library, you could get kindle unlimited or better sail the high seas, you are allowed to sideload books (and with great compatibility) if you know how to, they just behave like originals

I would recommend getting a cover for it for two reasons, 1: Privacy and the magnetic feature, you won't have to press the button on the bottom to turn it on, just open the cover and it powers up, 2: Protection, I think that the screen is plastic and prone to scratches, not that it gets scratched easily, but, better safe than sorry

Also, get the paperwhite over the kindle regular because the page turning and screen refresh are much faster in the paperwhite, believe me when I say that it matters

Best of luck, Happy reading

The form factor of this kindle is really good, easy to hold in your hand, not too heavy...kind of the same as a normal sized book, but you would be holding thousands of e-books in this thing for the weight of one physical book
Interface is also simple and intuitive, n lots of videos about setting it up and guides n tips n tricks are available for it on youtube, very easy to understand
It's totally monochromatic and works with e-ink, so dont expect it to behave like a tablet, much slower than a tab but then thats the charm of a kindle
Battery life has been good too, used it for a week with an hour of reading each day on airplane mode and the battery has dropped 14 percent, but that included transferring many many books to it n that uses more battery, so im expecting it to run for 2months on one full charge
I havent got any books from kindle store, so luckily im not getting any annoying ads yet but even if you do there is a workaround for that as well
It's waterproof so can easily carry around outside during travel without any worry
Backside is made up of a rubbery material so its easy to grip too but a cover is recommended anyway
Has a password feature too
Pdfs can be stored in it but you dont get all features as a normal kindle format book would get, ive put all my ebooks via a normal usb from my laptop
The dictionary which is preinstalled on it comes in very handy
And the display is amazing, easy on the eyes, no strain at all, can read on it for many hours even at night, it has a warm light setting for that
Overall i would rate it 4/5, cutting one star just because there is still room for improvement and more features ...at a price of 15k, it could have been faster, maybe had a earphone jack for audiobooks ...and other stuff at this price

Being a bookworm, I had been eyeing a kindle for a while now. Finally gathered some cash to grab one. I went for the paperwhite version because of the warmth setting, it is kind of a deal breaker for me, and the base kindle was unavailable. I have been reading this in a dark room and my eyes do not strain. Pretty perfect for me. Here are some pros and cons:
Pros:
1. It is nice that amazon allows sideloading of books via email and other methods like the Calibre app. I generally buy books from the amazon kindle store but I also visit IRC to get books that are pretty hard to come by even in kindle form.
2. The warm setting. You can increase and decrease the warmth of your screen. I generally keep around 6.
3. Very lightweight and does not feel cumbersome while long reading hours.
4. Battery backup is top-notch.

Cons:
1. The UI is garbage. I mean come on Amazon, please update the UI for god sake. Sorting, searching, and creating folders is a big pain.
2. It's a bit overpriced tbh but do we have other options? No.
3. I have seen videos of people connecting Bluetooth devices in kindle paperwhites to listen Audible on Youtube but it is not available here. I guess it is US exclusive? Idk.

Highly recommended for every book lover. Just go for it. Idk why I waited so long to get one and even bought an Android tablet once to read books which was such a bad decision.

Review after 2 year of use:
•features that made it worth it for me:
- though paperbacks have their own charm, this neat lil device has streamlined the reading process for me. I had been in a reading slump for quite a while. Kindle eliminated every conceivable hurdle in one go.
So here's what I love about it.
- with the Kindle unlimited subscription, you can borrow upto 10 books at once and return them once read and borrow new ones or if you wish to keep a book, you can buy it off the Kindle Store.
- you can change the font, alignment, spacing, font size of the text, make it as easy to read as possible.
- the warm lighting is a blessing, no exaggeration, it looks just like paper and doesn't strain your eyes like reading on an iPad or phone would do.
- you can readily look up meaning of any word by long pressing on it (along with a wiki) and if you switch on "word wise" it would show definitions on top of every big word.
- you can highlight text, quotes, make notes and compile them.
- my favourite feature- you can mail any documents/pdf/EPUB file to your kindle device and read on it. So even if an ebook seems way costly (happens sometimes), you can just find a pdf and you're good to go.
- you can finish a series without having to wait for the other books to arrive, it's all in the store. You also don't have to feel the guilt of spending too much money on a book you end up hating, ebooks cost very little (or are free with unlimited)
-the battery lasts forever. I charge it maybe once a week. Max.

Is the Kindle an absolute necessity for readers? No
Do I absolutely enjoy having it and think it was worth every penny? Definitely, i read a lot more now, there's absolutely no excuse not to. I'm on my 8th book of the month!

I had been using the basic version of kindle device for some years before I bought this one.
I found it a very useful upgrade. My review on some parameters that I can think of right now:
1. Brightness: There are 24 levels of brightness. In a room with lights on, the screen with LEDs on even at level around 14 reads really paper-white, justifying the name. Texts appear comfortable to read. Text resolution is also higher than the basic version making reading easier.
2. Grasping / Holding of device: with a 6.8 inch of screen size, I felt it was as easy to hold as was to hold the basic version. (Both the devices demand some resting support for hands, which is a natural posture for reading.)
3.Weight: Weight is not noticeable from the basic version.
4. Dark mode: Dark mode makes the white screen turn dark and text appear white. Together with warmer yellow lights on, one can read comfortably in a dark room. This is particularly useful while reading in bed before going to sleep.
5. Touch screen: The screen touch feels smooth, and better than that of the basic version. One can tell the difference while highlighting the texts. Back of the device is rubbery which feels good to hold.
Overall, it is a good device and a real value for your money.
Small suggestion: In the dark mode, an option may be created such that only a small rectangle of the current screen is on, while rest of the screen LEDs may become off. This will reduce glare even further and to a large extent. The said rectangle could be dragged up or down making the LEDs in the corresponding areas go on or off. This can be done with a software update. (This suggestion may be impractical, I don’t know.)

More than Amazon and other excellent products Mr.Jeff Bezos brought to this planet - I would always love-thank-respect him for this. I never read so many books n articles as i am reading now, simply because I switched to Kindle, and this is not a paid promotion of anykind. I am simply in love with the 'totality of experience' using Kindle for over two years now.

1) Single purpose device
2) Ease to use (making good habits easy/ Atomic Habits)
3) Eye comfort (e-Ink display/font size/night mode/etc/etc)
4) Storage (carry your own library)
5) Excellent battery life

All this together creates an environment on its own, its like - 'Music On, World Off'.
I said i never read so many books, and now i do... so this review is coming from someone who had never been much into reading. Maybe I never had Kindle before, maybe. Although i had to read many books - physical was good (but bulky), audio/video was excellent as i am an auditory learner (but you miss reading in between the lines), screens (iPad/phones/laptops) not that comfortable + distractions.
But when Kindle came, it was different.. different from everything i ever experienced before.. for it carried within it an environment in itself. That's what a device crafted for a single purpose does. It simply dissolved all the inhibitions inside and outside.
..........
For Update - One thing of immeasurable benefit to readers worldwide which Kindle software update can provide is an Underline feature, along side Highlight (which is already there), and showing Highlighted part in Bold and Underlined part as it is, in Notes.

For students/research scholars - to read "deep" use physical books and make own notes. I haven't tried Kindle Scribe (with pen) so can't comment.

Still I will not give this a 5 star just because there is no exchange option for kindle.

Now I am having an old kindle which I won’t be using but can’t resell this out too.. In a way, I become a forced hoarder of an electronic gadget which is of no use for me..
