Dodger is back this Christmas! A 55-minute special, titled ‘Coronation’, will see Fagin and the gang’s biggest heist yet – getting their hands on Queen Victoria’s crown from her Coronation ceremony. It's available on iPlayer from 29th November and on CBBC from 3rd December.

Where was Dodger filmed?
Dodger has been filmed around various locations in the North West of England - places like Manchester, Stockport and Blackpool. For the Dodger specials, filming took place at Bristol's The Bottle Yard Studios and on location in the city.

Who was The Artful Dodger? Is Dodger based on Oliver Twist?
The Artful Dodger was a character in the classic novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, and was the inspiration behind Dodger. Like the original Artful Dodger, this Dodger is resourceful and cunning, trained up by Fagin to lead the gang on their adventures through London.
Rhys Thomas and Lucy Montgomery are writers and producers on Dodger. So, Rhys, how similar to the original Artful Dodger is Dodger?
"This series is different because we have taken elements of Dickens and created a whole world of our own around it, which includes wonderful fresh characters and twists. It’s a show that everybody can watch."
How would you describe Dodger, Lucy?
"I would describe Dodger as an historical comedy adventure series for the whole family. It is funny, dramatic, sometimes sad but, the main thing is, it moves very quickly. It's a very fast paced action-adventure series with a lot of laughs. It takes familiar characters and gives them a new life within its own original story. I don't know what Charles Dickens would think, but we've created our own backstory for these characters."
