World War Two ambulance preserved for years to come

Meet ‘Wendy’, a wartime vehicle that may be the last remaining Morris CV11/30, the first type of ambulance used by the NHS.

The emergency vehicle, which was used throughout World War Two, has had some lucky escapes, including being blown up in the Blitz.

By the mid-80s it was left abandoned, broken down and vandalised outside a Hertfordshire pub. That was until 86-year-old former London ambulanceman Mark Bailey restored the vehicle and gave it a second lease of life.

Mr Bailey has now handed over ‘Wendy’ to the Whitewebbs Museum of Transport in Enfield, north London.
