Slight rise in investment in construction in 2023

Investment in construction rose by 0.2% in nominal terms in 2023 compared with the previous year. Investments in building construction fell by 0.3% and investments in civil engineering grew by 2.7%. Compared to the previous year, 2.5% less was invested in new construction projects and 4.4% more in renovation projects.

Swiss timber harvest lower by 6% in 2023

In 2023, 4.9 million cubic metres of timber were harvested in Switzerland, a decrease of almost 6% compared to the previous year. There was a noticeable decline in sawlogs and the harvests of industrial roundwood and chopped wood.

The Producer and Import Price Index remained stable in June

The Producer and Import Price Index remained unchanged in June 2024 compared with the previous month. Lower prices were observed for petroleum products in particular. Food products, on the other hand, became more expensive. Compared with June 2023, the price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products fell by 1.9%.

Just under half of employees work flexible hours

In 2023, 47.7% of employees benefited from flexible working hours and almost two fifths worked from home at least occasionally. 26.5% of employed persons regularly work on Saturdays. Night work is much less common (5.6%).
