Content heaven: Upcoming OTT shows and series that you can't miss

It’s finally here, after waiting for nearly two years, one of India’s most popular web series is coming back. The official plot for the series as per Prime is - Guddu and Golu are pitted against a new contender as they stake their claim to the throne. The fresh season will be about their tussle for control over the region. The returning cast includes Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, and Vijay Varma.

Another show with a cult fan following Panchayat brings satire in its newest avatar. This show played a big role in bringing Prime video services to the mainstream in India. The official plot for the show is, “As the panchayat elections approach, both Pradhan and Bhushan camps engage in a fierce battle to uplift their public image. Navigating the murky waters of Phulera politics, Abhishek does his best to maintain his objectivity.”

If you have been a fan of 90’s X-men animated series then you can rejoice. Starting today, X-men 97 will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. A continuation from the last episode aired back in 1997, the series will explore X-men and their adventures with Magneto as their leader.

After the interesting ending to Paatal Lok’s first season, the Jaideep Ahlawat lead web series is returning. The show famous for its raw take on society and cinematography is expected to deliver some surprises. The official plot is, “Two seemingly disconnected cases get Hathiram and Ansari to work together again, sending them down the track of a nebulous conspiracy.”

Adding to the lore of Star Wars, this story is also set a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Depicting the time of Jedis in their prime, this story is based 200 years before the prequels. We won’t see any skywalkers here, but we can expect some easter eggs. The show will premiere in June on Disney+ Hotstar

In it’s third iteration, Kapil Sharma and the gang are back. This time dropping on Netflix starting 30th of March, the team is back with a similar format. We will also see Sunil Grover back in the mix after the duo had a fallout a few years ago.

Arriving on Netflix in April, the web series is a crime thriller focusing on a murder case. The show will follow the journey of a detective trying to figure out the case where parents might be involved.

Based in the heartland of Tamil Nadu this story is important from a holistic perspective in Prime Videos India plans. So far the makers have said - "We wanted to make this mystery more complicated. We hope to see what's local to Tamil Nadu be relatable to people across India," says Suzhal creator Pushkar (of Pushkar-Gayathri fame).

The third season of the Huma Quereshi lead web series is coming to SonyLiv. Taking forward the story of her character we can expect some serious drama from the show this season.

An Amazon Prime original, this series combines police drama with supernatural elements. Starting on 29th March its official plot is, “sceptical crime branch Inspector Rishi Nandhan investigates a string of peculiar murders intertwined with supernatural occurrences. As he unravels the mysteries, he confronts both the chilling crimes and his own inner turmoil.”
