Exclusive: Aberdeen want to sign Nurudeen Abdulai

Aberdeen are plotting a move for highly-rated Ghana teenager Nurudeen Abdulai, sources have told Football Insider.

Abdulai, 19, won the Ghana Premier League with Medeama SC this season and has been called up to the Ghana national team.

The Scottish side are preparing a bid for the highly-rated Ghanaian centre-back who has a knack for scoring goals.

Following the departure of Anthony Stewart and Stefan Gartenmann’s return to parent club FC Midtjylland, Aberdeen are looking to bolster their defence.

Aberdeen have already brought in Irish centre-back Gavin Molloy, 22, and defensive midfielder Sivert Heltne Nilsen, 32.

At just 19-years-old, Abdulai has already gone on to make 57 appearances for Ghanaian champions Medeama SC scoring four goals.

Standing at 6ft, Abdulai has a real knack for popping up and scoring goals, helping his club secure qualification for the CAF Champions League for the first time in their history last season.

Abdulai made seven appearances in their continental journey, scoring once in their 3-1 victory over Guinean side Horoya AC.

It was a relatively disappointing campaign for Aberdeen last season as they finished top of the Scottish Premier League’s relegation group, two points above Hibernian.
