I apply ALL of this to my leadership, and there is not a single day I am not grateful for focusing on continuous team learning.

Our personal brand is us. The true quality branding is when we work not only on presenting our best foot forward, but put in the hard work of personal growth ethically adjusting our everyday and secret (when no one is watching) lives to more closely be the brand we want to project. PR can only do so much. When we become a better archetype of what the brand is to resonate as, the branding has more to reflect. Be the person behind the brand that you would want to meet if you were one of your clients. Buyers remorse is not what you want to have happen when the client steps forward into collaboration.

It's the journey not the destination. We often hear this phrase and we can apply it to our personal brand approach. People want to see your individual journey. Yes, seeing an amazing campaign in its finished form is great, but people want to know how you got there, what was your process, what challenges did you have to overcome? Start documenting your journey rather than showing off the outcome and you'll be able to connect with your audience on a much deeper level.

When you are open and honest about failures or where you’ve had to pivot to add value can free your team to be open about their struggles and take on bigger challenges.

I needed a former contractor to agree to complete their work. The current contractor couldn't obtain permits for incomplete work, so, in order to complete the work, the two contractors would need to come to an understanding of terms. I succeeded in expressing the terms laid in priority and respect. In other words, professionals will not agree if there doesn't exist the priority and respect of each professionals' position. I failed in obtaining the primary contract from a customer and referred contractor. My original input was to refer & host a meet & greet. I failed to prove that I wasn't involved when the contractor attempted to take advantage of the customer, and I ignored the first rule of business; it's business!

Sharing your story is important bc you learn and others learn. This is severely important to open up the doors for collaboration.

Sharing the failures are often far more powerful learning lessons for our teams than sharing the wins. The lessons and insights gained from reflecting on what didn't go so well helps teams grow exponentially as it prevents failure from happening again. It also goes beyond the shared value of learing and into boosting the team's confidence in the leader, in their authenticity and their genuine strive to self improve and serve the team to do better.

I have considered personal branding as a continuous learning experience in itself. And this is the spirit I have tried to inculcate in my team at work. If you build a team where no one is considered superior or inferior and focus on holistic growth and team spirit, rather than creating a hierarchy of seniors and juniors, it's a great approach where feedback is given and taken without any negative feelings, and productivity is maximized. Every team member is now focussed on learning and value addition, honing their individual skills while contributing to the brand voice. Mentoring becomes smooth and your team feels encouraged and motivated. This approach isn't a traditional organizational way, but it has worked wonders for me and my team.

Fostering a learning culture is all about focusing on the team and their growth plan with the organization. When an organization adopts a culture that promotes personal growth and purpose the team rallies alongside the mission and vision because they learn through coaching and feedback rather than criticism and judgment. When they can see the impact their work has they grow exponentially.

Logistics has learning limitations. It is never the way that it is read or learned from books. The only way that a student can learn logistics is in practice. It's like archeology. I believe in ERP systems, but reps will find themselves at a crossroad during a virtual failure. No one was prepared to move into the virtual global economy until after it was too late. It was complacency. Regardless of how fast technology moves, we must allow our humanity to slow down and maintain the balance of equality in life; and that means in business. If there was ever a day when we would lose the tangibility of business (hint: post-covid world), then there will come a day when we will lose the virtual world. The patterns guarantee it.

Be open and honest with things you struggled with when starting out and make those teaching points for others so they don’t have to share in those bumps and bruises.

I learned to apply business as I learned to remember all information needed by low-tech youths. Repetitiously. The systems that I've shared with each team are rooted in the following stipulations: 1. Learn & know your information. It is memory and wisdom that allows one to call upon it when it is needed. It is wont for needing. 2. Remain open and forthright amongst the team. Nothing hurts one of us alone, and we all hurt worse if it is not known. 3. It is easy to become a family. It is difficult to remain as one when any one person puts themselves about the family. So, rewards are shared no less than the punishments. However, promotions and demotions are earned. It is better to see one excel or fall rather than the family.

Teams need three other important factors for themselves personally and professionally: 1. Revelation is a gift. Relish it, and remain appreciative. 2. Anything you've received from someone else doesn't belong to you. Give it away in the best way that others can receive it, so that they too can have worth. 3. Have temperance and moderation. Excess in anything (agreeable and disagreeable) can bring one to ruin.

Don’t be afraid to change as time goes on. Move with the times and keep your brand relevant. Develop a mantra for when the going gets tough to repeat to yourself and visualize yourself actioning things to see things through. Also remember to take a step back and re engage as needed to get the end goal completed.

Your brand can give brith to your niche in business. while your brand remains mostly constant, your niche can vary yet still stem from the same values and mission your brand is based on. Don't be afraid of changing your niche and your target market if that's what you need to do to reach a wider audience or reach your true audience, you can still remain true to your brand when doing so.
