Different actions can generate very positive developments in companies. Many of these actions have already been mentioned by colleagues in the sector. I also believe that in addition to regular training sessions that simplify the understanding of the different levels of security, we can ensure that security tips are ubiquitous, such as in newsletters, workplace wallpapers, and banners at the entrance to the office. It is important to frequently emphasize to users the importance of not circumventing security tools. Some users have expertise and are able to circumvent some tools. It is necessary to ensure that liability is fully legal for such acts

Cyber security today is of utmost importance, attacks are getting more sophisticated & tremendously more damaging. Hence security awareness is not an option but a necessity. Your team's have to be battle ready. Smart organisation will always focus on ensuring that their teams are ready to face any kind of challenges they are asked to face. Efficient organisation will keep recalibrating their security posture and awareness of the teams as new threat actors, new techniques, new tactics become evident.

Here are recommended steps: Gain confidence by communication: Have recurring sessions providing info on recent hacks and what could be done to avoid them. Also emphasize why we need Security controls. Training and Education: Provide regular training sessions on topics eg cybersecurity best practices, advancement in digital world etc. Simulated Phishing Exercises: Conduct simulated phishing exercises to test employees' ability to recognize and respond to phishing attempts. Clear Security Policies: Establish clear and comprehensive security policies outlining acceptable use of company resources, data handling procedures, & incident reporting protocols.

Surveying users to self-assess their awareness is typically a futile effort. The more effective approach is to first identify the behaviors that you are trying to engender through security awareness. Subsequently, measure those behaviors, e.g.: clicking on malicious emails, reporting malicious emails, attempting to access malicious websites, attempting to send high value content to non-trusted parties without need to know etc. In the past, I aggregated about such items into a CyberScore that was computed for each user in the enterprise and was accessible to the user.

I automated level-one tasks within my SOC team, freeing up 80% of their time to work on quarterly goals (which we refer to as "Rocks" in EOS by Gino Wickman). I set a goal for one of my SOC analysts to develop 80% more detection use cases (correlation rules) for 14 tactics from the MITRE ATT&CK Enterprise Framework within 3 months. This enhancement aims to improve threat detection, align with global standards, and effectively distribute the workload among team members. I will check progress weekly to ensure they remain on track to meet their quarterly objectives.

One thing I believe is very helpful, is making the process of training engaging by using quizzes and gamifing it. People hear so much about cyber security awareness and the "do's and don'ts" that make them lose interest and try to skip training or not pay attention at all. Engaging in questions and smart storytelling about real-life incidents can sometimes stay in their memory longer and perhaps create "trainers" out of the trainees if the stories are intriguing enough for them to pass along to their colleagues, friends, and families.

In my experience, solely providing training may not be enough to modify the behaviour of your organisation. It is so important to understand what resonates and stays with staff in regards to CS. This means understanding what threats are currently targeting your organization or others of your type (I.e: Financial, banking, healthcare etc.) as well as what could impact them personally and trying to tailor a discussion based on that. I have found that presenting as humanly as possible, (over cam or in person) and making connections / relationships with those you’re teaching works best. As a trainer, being there and helping people protect not only the organization, but others is the most vital skill for establishing any great CS culture.

Training is good. However, far too often do I see organisations making their training a yearly occurrence. Some do it more often, but it’s the same course every time. This is a fallacy. What they should do instead is to practice often and keep it short. Each department should, with the help of the security department, perform short and to the point tabletops exercises that are relevant to their department. The yearly “catch all” training should be an addition at best

I purchased Amazon gift cards for those who reported threats or demonstrated exceptional practices. to make this feel like a competition, I implemented a digital badge system. As my team members achieved cybersecurity milestones, he or she earned badges which we displayed on our platform. In our weekly meetings, everyone shared success stories and fresh ideas. This made everyone see cybersecurity as our shared goal, not just a duty.

Focus on the performance and good results with your effort and hard work. Don't repeat the mistakes. SIEM, EDR and SOAR platforms play a key role in successful SOC operations. Customize the dashboards based on the requirement to get faster visibility of attacks coming towards organization.

Relevance. Something in your industry in the news about cybersecurity? Share it with commentary. Make it a part of future training. Stories that resonate with staff, either because of country, industry, product/service, or geography. Sometimes things are just...interesting. Share those, too. Repetition doesn't aid learning and application; curiosity and interest does. And, when there's a dearth of interesting, novel things, then break out the humor and new information to fill in the gaps.

Keep yourself updated with latest thrends and cyber techniques as a manager SOC/Analyst. Conduct knowledge sessions with your team members. Always invest in training/certifications and share free materials with your colleagues. To upskill in cybersecurity, doing study and research, make your habit.
