Irrelevance: Help vendors connect their work to the big picture. At minimum have a quarterly business review. Ideally, have an onboarding where they get to know your business and how they contribute. Remind them of this knowledge periodically, perhaps monthly. Anonymity: Sometimes it is the little things that count.
