As B&F turns 25, we would like to celebrate our firm’s history. In 1998, Bill Becker and John Frondorf had a visionary idea—to create a firm whose sole focus is to support owners as they undertake complex construction projects. Bill managed projects as an Owner’s Representative, and John provided Cost Estimating. Both practices functioned separately, but there was great synergy between the two. The Estimators helped the Owner’s Reps establish budgets and review costs. The Owner’s Reps provided current cost data from the field. A culture of internal collaboration was born. Twenty-five years later, a new generation of Partners - Charles Moleski, Joe Malinowski, and Mike Zaidel are upholding B&F's commitment to excellence. Together, they have a combined fifty years of experience at B&F. As we celebrate 25 years of amazing clients and extraordinary projects, we would like to thank three very important groups of people. First, our staff is the best there is. They work tirelessly and tenaciously on behalf of our clients. To all our team members past and present — thank you! We are grateful for the deep bonds we have forged with industry colleagues—architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and vendors. Our collaborative approach would not be possible without you. Most importantly, we are deeply grateful to our clients and the trust that you have placed in B&F. Whatever type of facility you are creating, you are the ones truly making the world a better place. We are humbled to play a small part in helping to realize your vision. Learn more about the history of B&F at https://lnkd.in/eGadu7Yw

Looking back on June... it was a busy month at B&F! We attended the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Conference on Architecture & Design in Washington, D.C. Kiernan Timberlake Principal Johann Mordhorst led a fantastic tour of the Folger Shakespeare Library. Conference participants toured the grounds of the recently completed project, which officially reopened to the public on June 21, 2024. We volunteered at the barn clean-up for our client, Work To Ride! We assisted with weeding and replanting on the site. We cannot wait to see how it flourishes! Work to Ride, a local non-profit, uses polo to mentor underprivileged youth, introducing them to equestrian sports and life skills. We also attended Leverage, an event hosted by The Community Design Collaborative, celebrating design in action. The Community Design Collaborative matches non-profits with skilled volunteers from the fields of architecture, engineering, and construction. During the event, funds were raised in support of equitable design. Pictured below, our Principal Charlie Moleski is on the board! #AIA #leverage #volunteer #projectmanagement #costestimating #beckerfrondorf #folger

The Franklin Institute is celebrating a decade of its "Your Brain" exhibit, which was unveiled in 2014 as part of the Karabots Pavilion. This interactive exhibit explores neuroscience and technology, engaging visitors with mind-bending illusions and insights into perception and memory. "Your Brain" demonstrates the Institute's commitment to scientific education and innovation. As the Institute marks its 200th year, it continues to inspire curiosity and advance STEM education, shaping future generations of thinkers and leaders in science and technology.   Since 2000, Becker & Frondorf has proudly maintained a long-standing relationship with The Franklin Institute. Over the years, we have expertly managed nine separate phases of interior renovations. We are honored to assist The Franklin Institute as they continue with ongoing renovations to enhance and modernize their building. #thefranklininstitute #museum #exhibits #philadelphia #yourbrain

Congratulations to Impact Services, a B&F client, for having their "A & Indiana" project featured as one of six highlighted projects in the June 2024 edition of Green Building & Design Magazine! Additionally, the “A & Indiana” project recently received a Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia Grand Jury Award. This award celebrates outstanding achievements in historic preservation, honoring projects that demonstrate excellence in the preservation and rehabilitation of historic buildings and sites. The “A & Indiana” project involved converting an old industrial mill building into affordable housing units for low-income families. Located in Kensington, a neighborhood significantly affected by both the COVID-19 and opioid epidemics, "A & Indiana" has provided a beacon of hope for the community and its residents. We are incredibly proud of everyone involved with this project and their commitment to transforming communities through innovative and compassionate projects like "A & Indiana." This work not only preserves the historical integrity of our local buildings but also revitalizes neighborhoods in need. BartonPartners Architects Planners, Inc. Our cost estimating team has been involved in numerous projects aimed at enhancing academic facilities, and we are excited to highlight some of these projects for you to look forward to seeing in the fall. One notable project is a new dormitory at Saint Joseph’s University for our longstanding client, Blackney Hayes Architects. This 242,000 square foot residential facility's aim was to complete the construction of the building, offering a welcoming home for 578 incoming Hawks. The building targeted LEED Silver Certification, utilizing features such as sustainable lighting, a geothermal well field, and efficient mechanical systems. The building is scheduled to be occupied in the Fall of 2025. From revitalizing residential halls to modernizing academic spaces, our projects aim to enhance the student experience.
