When it’s a 14-story building, or there are exposed columns and beams, or there’s a striking architectural design, the structural design element of a building can be more evident. But sometimes, our work simply fades into the background of a project and is more functional in nature.  For the renovation of this project with pluribus architectural collaborative llc, our team provided things like header details on new wall openings for doorways and structural support for trusses to hang new audio/visual equipment from.   Thanks, Jeffrey Schutzler, for including us in this post – it’s always a pleasure to work with you and your team.  We’re so glad to have helped provide a space that the youth of Vineyard Church can use and enjoy for years to come!

Please join us in welcoming Cheyenne Hornbuckle to the Bob D. Campbell & Company team! After interning with us last year and graduating this May from University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Cheyenne has now joined us full time.   Cheyenne chose the field of structural engineering because she loves problem solving and the design process that comes with construction of new or existing structures. She is currently working toward her Master's of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural. Cheyenne is in the process of enrolling as an E.I.T., and will work toward becoming a licensed Professional and Structural Engineer.   We appreciate all of Cheyenne's contributions and hard work during her internship and we are excited to have her on board full time. Welcome to the team, Cheyenne!

Congratulations to the City of Overland Park & the Overland Park Police Department on the opening of the new Fire Station #41. It was a true honor to be a part of this project alongside our client, SFS Architecture. We appreciate all project partners who came together to design and construct the new 16,000 square foot, 4-bay, 3-company station.

The BDC team enjoyed the collaboration with h | d Architecture, Henderson Engineers and McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. to complete major renovations and updates for AdventHealth – Shawnee Mission Tower 2. One interesting part of our scope was the alteration of the exterior precast wall structure to allow for increased infusion of natural light into the space. WAYNE CARTER Originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Wayne Carter moved to Columbia, Missouri to attend MU and gain a fresh perspective. After graduating this May with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Wayne will continue his education in the fall at the University of California - Berkeley to obtain his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Wayne was always curious how bustling cities with such a small geographical area were able to safely accommodate such a multitude of society, while simultaneously functioning so seamlessly. This fascination led him down an aspiring path of becoming a structural engineer that will unite with diverse professions to create future cities that are self-sustainable, resilient and people-centered. #WelcomeInterns

Many thanks to KMBC 9 for the engaging story and interior tour of The Campbell Dome House on State Line Road in Overland Park, Kansas.     Originally designed in 1967 by our company's founder, Bob D. Campbell, today The Dome Home continues to captivate onlookers with its unique circular and voluminous design. The story includes commentary by Bob's son, Mark Campbell, P.E., and granddaughter, Keli Campbell, who currently lives in the home with her husband and 2 children.     The Dome Home stands as a testament to Bob D. We’re hopeful to get the green-light on this project from the Bonner Springs City Council! The project will provide new modern apartment units earmarked for moderate-income residents.  Located west of the intersection of Oak and Front streets, the roughly two-acre site was previously the site of Thriftway and Dollar General stores which were demolished in May 2023 after being placed on a condemnation list.  This is an exciting project which will replace blight and contribute to the revitalization of the community, and we are happy to be a part of it alongside NSPJ Architects, Latimer Sommers and Associates, P.A. & other partners. #kansascitystructuralengineers #suburbaninfill #affordablehousing https://lnkd.in/griXzt9h
