#Energy is evolving. Carbon accountability is on the rise. #carboncapture is catching on. What should carbon capture utilization and storage facility owners and operators expect regarding #corrosion protection of their process equipment? In truth, industry is still working to define best practices and standards. They may differ depending on carbon capture methods. But some educated guessing about which corrosion protection materials might work is still possible. Potential viable candidates are introduced in this survey of corrosion protection of carbon capture equipment. https://lnkd.in/ddY8mW3i

A storage tank roof that was never coated. Patches to the shell here and there, some painted, some not. And a whole lot of rust. Do you blast back to bare steel before repainting? A major refinery in the southern U.S. wrestled with the question. The incumbent coating manufacturer insisted the tank had to be blasted all the way back to bare steel for best results. A Carboline rep saw things a little differently. The refinery wanted to do the right thing—protect the tank—but why shouldn’t they search for better value, too? Sometimes the answer is, “you can’t have it both ways.” But our rep had better cards in his hand, and now there’s a new incumbent. https://lnkd.in/ggdTSYjF

If you’ve played Uno then you know: That Wild card in your hand is powerful. When you have one, you’re on top of the world. When you don’t, it feels like the deck is stacked against you. Anyone responsible for asset corrosion protection knows a similar feeling when they have a good surface-tolerant epoxy mastic at their disposal. In some markets, these products are page 1 in the playbook. In others, they’re a tool in the toolbox when unique conditions or limitations turn you away from something more ordinary. And here and there, they come out of left field as the ideal solution to a novel problem. This use case roundup explains why these versatile products are held in such high regard. https://lnkd.in/ge9Peq_z

This article highlights several analytical techniques used to evaluate industrial coatings. It addresses methods used for research and development, manufacturing, quality control, and failure analysis. A toolbox full of good analytical equipment and the knowledge of how to use it makes a big difference when determining why a product works or may have failed. Knowing how to evaluate the root cause of a problem and having the tools to do so can be a significant aid in the trouble-resolution process. #pharmaceutical facility construction and renovation is like the big leagues. Few contractors get called up to the big show. Those that do: Know the strict rules in place in sensitive life science environments Know the paperwork they’re responsible for maintaining Work safely and NEVER cut corners And the pros at RHI, Inc. knocked this one out of the park: A conversion from offices to a state-of-the-art laboratory included a 40,000-square-foot application of Dudick Steri-Quartz decorative quartz broadcast epoxy #flooring system. The ultra-high solids system boasts excellent resistance to chemicals and daily traffic and low emissions—the ideal solution for a lab floor. Good coordination among the facility owner, general contractor, installer, and our field team resulted in a safe, smooth, timely delivery. And some great photos courtesy of Buch Construction show how RHI executed a color transition in a perfectly straight, 180-foot-long line. https://lnkd.in/gU5hxgP2

Often, #water and #wastewater infrastructure owners struggle to quantify the cost of inflow and infiltration in their systems. But David Dingler of Prime Resins, Inc. does the math. And the numbers don’t look good. Especially when we ratepayers are the ones picking up the tab. Hear more from David’s appearance on The Red Bucket podcast: https://lnkd.in/g3zW89wE
