Often, #water and #wastewater infrastructure owners struggle to quantify the cost of inflow and infiltration in their systems. But David Dingler of Prime Resins, Inc. does the math. And the numbers don’t look good. Especially when we ratepayers are the ones picking up the tab. Hear more from David’s appearance on The Red Bucket podcast: https://lnkd.in/g3zW89wE

Inflow & infiltration (I&I) damages #water and #wastewater infrastructure, can cause major community disruptions, and ultimately costs us all millions of dollars each year. What is it? How does it happen? What does it cost? What’s the best way of addressing it? And who makes the best pizza in #Atlanta? Jeremy Sukola and David Dingler of Prime Resins, Inc. answer these and other crucial questions in the latest episode of The Red Bucket podcast. https://lnkd.in/g3zW89wE

Fast-track megaprojects mean the trades are racing to meet deadlines that cannot be pushed. According to Jeffrey Lagendyk of Norlag Coatings Ltd, decision-makers’ jobs get a lot easier when they engage the trades in advance and take what he calls “an eyes-open approach to scheduling.” “It’s just paint” is the wrong mindset, and Jeff shares what coating companies must provide to make that mindset disappear. Jeff discussed his crews’ application of intumescent #fireproofing on a massive General Motors #ElectricVehicle facility construction project on The Red Bucket podcast here: https://lnkd.in/gKWsGCGj

Which is better—field or shop application for intumescent #fireproofing? Wrong question. The right one is: What’s the right mix of each for this particular project? Jeffrey Lagendyk of Norlag Coatings Ltd explains how a recent delivery of an all-field application project for a massive General Motors’ plant in Quebec that supports #ElectricVehicle manufacturing convinced him a hybrid approach is ideal. Jeff was a guest on The Red Bucket podcast—hear the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/gKWsGCGj

“Whiskey fungus” is a pain in the neck of anyone storing large quantities of alcohols like ethanol. A pain in the neck for their neighbors, too. If you’ve seen black-colored streaks or stains on big white tanks, then you’ve likely seen it. It’s called baudoinia compniacensis, and it’s sticky, ugly, and persistent. It’s hard to clean off, and even if you manage to get rid of it, it’ll be back. It consumes alcohol vapors as food. Where there are emitted vapors, the fungus follows. Golden Grain Energy, LLC in Mason City, Iowa, was on the whiskey fungus merry-go-round: Frequent cleanings, frequent recoats, but the nasty stains kept coming back. When a new tank was erected last summer, the company decided to try an experiment. Would coating the new tank in a siloxane topcoat specifically developed to inhibit baudoinia growth do the trick? It’s been almost a year, and now they have their answer. https://lnkd.in/gMAMqHUp
