Castlelake is delighted to have our talented 2024 intern class officially on board for the summer. This year, Castlelake’s Minneapolis office is hosting its second cohort of interns from the Dougherty Family College, alongside interns from the broader University of St. Thomas community. Additionally, Castlelake’s London office welcomed its fourth cohort of interns from 10,000 Black Interns. By forging even stronger relationships with these programs, we aim to foster greater access to opportunity within the investment management industry and contribute to the development of the future’s leading talent!  

The asset-based private credit market is gaining a lot of attention, but in our view there’s still limited consensus around what assets and opportunities it comprises. To help shed some light on this hot topic, we hosted an intimate group of investors in Saint Louis, Missouri, for a discussion about the core characteristics that make up the asset-based market, investment approaches, as well as differences between asset-based private credit in the U.S. and Europe. MY LATEST: A Q&A with the CEO of Castlelake. Asset-based lender Castlelake is selling a majority stake in itself to publicly traded Brookfield Asset Management, making it the latest private credit specialist to align itself with a larger global asset manager. The Minneapolis-based firm has agreed to sell a majority stake in itself to Brookfield, which is investing around $1.5 billion, both to acquire the management company stake and in commitments to Castlelake funds, according to Castlelake Chief Executive and Managing Partner Evan Carruthers. Established in 2005, Castlelake has invested or committed more than $39 billion since its founding, according to the firm. The firm’s aviation strategy, including aircraft leasing and aviation infrastructure, accounts for the largest percentage of those assets with a total of $20 billion invested in such deals since the firm’s inception. However, the firm also manages investments in real assets, including real estate and infrastructure debt, as well as special finance, including consumer credit and other forms of asset-backed lending. https://lnkd.in/gsAdpbVF

Over the last few months, our team members came together for some rewarding initiatives including a Habitat for Humanity International build in Minneapolis, sorting donations at Euston Foodbank in London, learning the art of the perfect pasta dish at a group cooking class in Dublin and unwinding with a paint-and-sip session in New York. These moments of connecting with one another are important in shaping the kind of collaborative culture we strive to create. They help remind us that it’s not just about the work we do, it’s about the people we do it with!
