Team USA finished on top of the women's gymnastics qualifying scores Sunday, putting them in a confident position ahead of Tuesday's medal round at the Olympic Games in Paris. On the individual front, Simone Biles and Suni Lee will once again compete for gold in the all-around competition. The duo has won the last two gold medals in that competition. Team USA is also going to send much of the team to individual medal events later on in the Games. Biles qualified for the medal round of the floor exercise, balance beam and vault. Jade Carey qualified for the final in vault, Suni Lee qualified in the uneven bars and balance beam, and Jordan Chiles qualified in the floor exercise. Biles notched her impressive day despite dealing with some calf pain. After she produced a flawless balance beam routine, she landed awkwardly while warming up for her floor routine and exited the arena before reemerging to get her lower left leg taped. Her coach told reporters after the competition that Biles had been dealing with calf pain a couple weeks before Paris. But when asked by reporters if she was OK following competition, Biles said, "Yup! As good as I can be." Can money buy happiness? It’s an age-old question with which many — including philosophers, economists, psychologists and even rappers — have wrestled. Having a lot of money and not having enough can both lead to unhappiness. But few would argue that having some discretionary income doesn’t facilitate happiness to a certain degree. Regardless of how happy you are and how much money you have, you go back to your baseline of happiness after a positive or negative experience, researchers have found. It’s a concept known as hedonic adaptation. For example, the joy from buying a new car or getting a raise wears off after a while; they just become the normal state of affairs. So how can you get the happiest bang for your buck? Read on: https://cnn.it/3Wlzqn7

LeBron James made his emphatic return to Olympic basketball, turning in a dominant performance in a 110-84 win against Serbia, his first contest at the Games since 2012. It was the first time James had played in the quadrennial tournament since winning his second consecutive gold medal at the London Games and it was clear the 39-year-old all-time leading NBA scorer was bringing as much energy as he can to Paris. The US next plays South Sudan on Wednesday, who ran the Americans close in an exhibition game in London before the Games that was decided by just a point. James’ 21 points, eight rebounds and nine assists helped provide the spark for Team USA throughout the contest. The ever-present four-time NBA champion seemed to always be on the verge of breaking out of the US backcourt on the fast break, exemplified by a tough, contested layup in the third quarter, in which the Los Angeles Lakers star powered through a Serb defender for a bucket. The first half though was all about Kevin Durant, who scored 21 points on 8-for-8 shooting. It’s the Phoenix Suns forward’s fourth time at the Olympics and his performance proved just how much the two-time NBA champion loves this particular competition. Read more: https://cnn.it/4cWkYcz

Delta Air Lines stranded an estimated half million passengers in its service meltdown last week, leaving many sleeping on floors of airports, frustrated and angry at their inability to complete their trips, unable to find their bags or get answers from the airline. But the fact is no matter how mad they are, most of them will return to the airline in the future. To paraphrase the old song, for most travelers, breaking up with an airline is hard to do. Here's why: https://cnn.it/3WE0ijM

First there was the three-year cruise that never took off. Now, another company aiming to be the first to produce a round-the-world residential cruise at a reasonable price has delayed departure by two months. Villa Vie Residences was due to depart from Belfast on May 30. But after a couple of unexpected hiccups, the ship – the Villa Vie Odyssey – is still in the Northern Irish city. Passengers were flown home to wait for a new departure date.

The IOC announced the nursery initiative in March after athletes expressed the need for better support to balance the Games and parenthood, according to Patroni, Polychronidis and Müller. Parent athletes came together in communication with the IOC and the International Paralympic Committee long before Tokyo, they said. “We talk all the time about our needs,” Polychronidis said. “It is very significant and touching to see the committees understand that you need to have your baby and not just say ‘if you want to have your baby, stay home.’ This is what makes us human.”
