PATHS TO THE TRADES - How to Become a Material Mover. What a material mover does: manually move freight, stock and other materials. Pathways: There are typically no formal education requirements. In most cases, employers require only that applicants can physically perform the work. Typically work full time, some workers will do overnight shifts as materials are shipped around the clock.
