  • Recent U.S. legislative shifts threaten civil liberties, particularly for marginalized communities. The first legislative change we want to address is the recent enactment of laws that restrict voting access in many states. 📢 Call to Action:  1. Advocate for Fair Voting Practices: -Use your platform to raise awareness about voting restrictions and their impact on minority communities. -Collaborate with advocacy groups to support legislation that protects and expands voting rights. 2. Educate and Inform: -Create and disseminate educational materials informing the public about their voting rights and navigating new voting regulations. -Host webinars, panels, and discussions to amplify the voices of those affected by voting restrictions. 3. Leverage Media Relations: -Pitch stories to media outlets highlighting the personal stories of those impacted by voting restrictions. -Utilize social media campaigns to spread awareness and mobilize action against voting rights restrictions. 4. Support Grassroots Efforts: -Partner with local organizations to support voter registration drives and provide resources for voters to obtain necessary identification. -Volunteer your expertise to help grassroots organizations with communication strategies that advocate for voting rights. 5. Engage in Policy Advocacy: -Advocate for local, state, and federal policy changes to ensure voting rights are protected and expanded. -Participate in public comment periods and provide testimony on the impacts of proposed voting legislation. Get involved! Contact your representatives, support organizations fighting for voting rights, and help spread awareness about these changes. Let's protect our democracy and ensure every voice is heard. #DEI #Inclusion #Equity #CivilLiberties #PublicRelations #VotingRights #CriminalJusticeReform #Communications #SocialJustice

  • DAA CommUnity! Over the past 13 months, several legislative changes and Supreme Court decisions in the United States have threatened civil liberties and freedoms. These changes have significant implications on how we communicate equitably and inclusively to stakeholders of color and other underrepresented identities, creating substantial challenges for all of us. This is why we must remain steadfast in our commitment, and why our work is so important. In the coming days, we will curate a comprehensive resource to help communicators navigate all that has happened over the past year. We need to continue championing fair opportunities and inclusive policies to safeguard these freedoms. Let’s take action to ensure that our commitment remains strong and effective.

  • The Forbes article, "DEI is a Trillion-Dollar Blind Spot: Sephora Gets It—You Should Too" by Doug Melville emphasizes that companies often overlook the substantial economic opportunities associated with DEI, estimating the potential market impact to be in the trillions of dollars. Sephora is a prime example of a company successfully integrating DEI into its business strategy. Sephora has implemented comprehensive DEI policies, including bias training and ensuring diverse representation in its advertising and products. This business growth has led to customer loyalty. • The DAA is keeping an eye on the election this year! As we experience history in the U.S., our collective voice should not be silent. Yesterday, news of the President dropping out of the race and his subsequent endorsement of VP Harris was amplified by a bipartisan move by a former Nikki Haley PAC to support VP Harris. This is a critical time for our democracy - one action we can all take is to vote. The DAA's spirit embodies transformative industry-wide change, our strength lies in our numbers. #election2024 #kamalaharris #presidentbiden #electionday #vote #PoliticalParticipation #MakeYourVoteCount #ElectionYear #VoterAwareness

Last Night was incredible! Almost 100 inclusive leaders came together at 2045 Studio in NYC to build connection, and engage in a conversation to discuss the evolving needs of leaders and companies around the topic of DEI. I was so excited to take a picture w the Diversity Action Alliance team Kelly, Carmella, Andrea, Jenny - as well as so many other incredible leaders Chantel, Von, Singleton, Judy, Ramadan, Nneka, Blessed, Julia, Timothy, Claribel, Martine, Daniella and so many more. It was real talk: How should we leverage AI technology & community? Are ERGs being tokenized? Is Diversity now a bad word in some corporate environments? How will the election change things? What is working? Big thank you to Porter, and Stephanie for inviting me and the Jodie AI: Inclusive AI + Expert Network team into the conversation - and for everyone who is out there building and grinding to uncover the brilliance that is difference! #inclusion #inspiration #us
