For a year, Kamaljit (Kay) Aujla had been struggling to make sense of the loss of her second child. The baby, a daughter, was delivered stillborn, leaving Kay with emotional pain and depression. On the one-year anniversary of the birthdate, Kay tried to end her life. With specialized help from a new program developed and led by mental health professionals from Dominion Hospital, Kay has recovered, gained insight into her condition and is expecting her third child this fall. As part of HCA Virginia Health System, Dominion Hospital will be taking part in our first-ever, division-wide We Show Up Community Service Month throughout April. Our colleagues will join volunteers from our sites of care across the state and beyond to participate in activities that support local nonprofit organizations in our communities. Did you know that eating disorders have the second highest mortality rate of any mental illness behind opiate addiction? In addition, 22% of children and adolescents exhibit disordered eating behaviors. During Eating Disorders Awareness Week, we call attention to this critical health condition and affirm that, with early access to treatment and support, a full recovery is possible. Reflections Eating Disorder Treatment Center at Dominion Hospital provides: ⚪️Inpatient program - Round the clock care including meals and snacks, group therapy, expressive therapy, meal planning, and education for patients and families. ⚪️Partial hospitalization program – Day program available seven days a week from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., allowing individuals to go home for the night. Hours my decrease as clinically appropriate. Reflections is the only partial hospitalization program in the area that can provide a 12-hour day program that includes meals and snacks. ⚪️Intensive outpatient program –Allows participants to join group support sessions three to seven days a week to better accommodate school or work schedules.
