Today marks the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Dudek's Disability and Accessibility Alliance ERG would like to recognize the history and significance of this historic civil rights law on its anniversary. 🆕 The ADA has had a long journey, from the first version being drafted by the National Council on Disability in 1986. 📝 While the ADA was signed into law in 1990, Titles I-III (Employment, State, Local Government, and Public Accommodations) weren't implemented until 1992. 🏛️ Another major update came in 1999 when the Supreme Court ruled that "no person with a disability can be unjustly excluded from participation in or be d denied the benefits of services, programs, or activities of any public entity." 🖥️ In 2019 the Supreme Court ruled that the ADA also protects access to apps and websites in addition to physical accommodations.
