Join us on Wednesday July 31 for a virtual webinar discussing our first Jurisdictional REDD+ Pricing Guide for Tropical Forest Nations! This new report highlights exciting growth and challenges ahead in carbon markets, particularly in the emerging #JREDD+ market and how Forest Nations can benefit from it. We’ll be joined by its authors Dylan McCall-Landry and David McLaughlin; Guy Turner, Managing Director of Carbon Markets at MSCI Carbon Markets whose data powered the guide, and Mark Moroge, Vice President of Natural Climate Solutions at EDF. The panel will discuss the findings from the report, and what they mean for Jurisdictional Credits in the #VCM. Register for the webinar here: https://lnkd.in/eQdMGeMQ

This satellite is helping slow climate change — right now ⬇️ 🛰️ Meet MethaneSAT: the satellite circling Earth to track emissions from methane: a highly potent, short-term greenhouse gas. ⛽️ This satellite, the most sophisticated of its kind, enables unprecedented global monitoring of methane emissions, providing the data needed to drive impactful change. In this incredible TED talk, Millie Chu Baird, Vice President, Office of the Chief Scientist at Environmental Defense Fund and Mission Impact Lead for MethaneSAT shares the story at TED Conferences of how an audacious idea turned into a groundbreaking science effort. 🌎 Millie's vision and leadership remind us that our climate story can be one of hope. Let's leverage the power of technology and people to slow the rate of global warming in our lifetimes. 🚀 Watch the TED Talk: https://www.edf.org/Z6LM

The climate crisis demands audacity. We must have the nerve to take big, bold actions...like launching a satellite into space to track global methane emissions. Methane has more than 80 times the warming power of carbon dioxide in the short term. And if we can reduce emissions quickly, it will bring down global temperatures in this decade. As the MethaneSAT Mission Impact Lead, Millie Chu Baird is a major force behind this big, bold mission to cut methane. Listening to her Ted Talk left me inspired and full of hope. And I’m betting it’ll do the same for you. https://lnkd.in/enpnFv9R

This month at least 2,500 U.S. towns have tied or broken heat records. Extreme heat caused bridges and train tracks to fail. It’s clear: we have to turn down the heat. And the quickest way to do it is by cutting methane emissions. Methane is responsible for more than 30 percent of today’s warming. It’s extremely potent but short-lived. So, if we reduce methane emissions quickly, we’ll see global warming slow down within our lifetimes. This is an opportunity we can’t afford to miss. But the problem is methane leaks are hard to detect. That’s why we launched MethaneSAT. It will see both large and small leaks over wide areas. And it will track how emissions are changing over time. In her Ted Talk (TED Conferences), Mission Impact Lead Millie Chu Baird explains how this data will lead to fast action on methane. https://lnkd.in/eEAegXKK

From decarbonizing freight vehicles to making energy-efficient upgrades in homes and businesses, states, tribes and local governments submitted plans that will transform U.S. climate action in a variety of ways. Yesterday, @EPAgov announced significant funding to support these projects. Thanks to the Biden-Harris administration’s historic Inflation Reduction Act, the awarded grants could cut as much climate pollution as roughly the emissions of five million homes over 25 years. And once the climate action plans are enacted, the U.S. could reduce emissions by 7% before 2030. 👏🏽

🌍Want to understand Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) Crediting? We’ve got a comprehensive handbook for that! 🌱 The NCS Crediting Handbook is designed to guide you through the complexities of high-integrity NCS crediting. Why is this important? Natural climate solutions are essential to achieving our global climate goals. They can contribute up to a third of the climate mitigation needed by 2030, alongside numerous other benefits to people and the planet. Well-designed NCS crediting systems can channel urgently needed finance to the communities that steward our natural ecosystems. However, NCS crediting can be challenging to understand due to evolving methods, business models, and policy frameworks. Our handbook demystifies these complexities by presenting a balanced and accessible introduction to key topics such as: 🌱 Factors influencing NCS credit quality 🛠 Tools and mechanisms for ensuring high-quality credit production and use 🤝 How buyers can purchase and use NCS credits with climate integrity 💰 Types of NCS markets and transactions 📈 Opportunities for scaling up financing for NCS activities 📘Learn more and download the handbook here: https://lnkd.in/e7w3By3J
