We’re thrilled to share our 2023 Impact Report! This report highlights how we’re investing in opportunities, providing liquidity and reliable funding to our members, support for affordable housing and community development, and fostering an inclusive culture. Last year, we supported nearly 5,000 local jobs and over 15,000 housing units through $2.4 billion in discounted lending through community advances and awarded more than $74 million in community investment grants. Our grant funding provided over 1,900 individuals and families with affordable housing, nearly 3,600 homebuyers with downpayment assistance, support for 170+ small businesses, and more. We expanded our membership, welcoming 10 new members and 29 financial institutions to our Mortgage Partnership Finance Program nationally, allowing us to offer services and make and impact across even more communities. We encourage you to share our impact and read the full report for inspiring stories: fhlbc.com/impact #FHLBCImpact #InvestingInOpportunities

Last week, we were proud to sponsor and attend the A Home for Everyone Conference hosted by the Wisconsin Collaborative for Affordable Housing. Events like these are key for advancing solutions in affordable housing, fostering collaboration, and promoting community development. It was wonderful to connect with other housing champions and to see our own community outreach leaders, Jamie Lutton and Jessica Grant-Domond, in action.

Read the Council of Federal Home Loan Banks' response to the Federal Housing Finance Agency's request for information on the FHLBank System’s mission. The letter underscores the System’s commitment to providing liquidity to its members and supporting housing and community development.
Yesterday, the Council of Federal Home Loan Banks filed a comment letter responding to the Federal Housing Finance Agency's request for information on the #FHLBank mission, measurement and incentive programs. In our letter, we note that FHLBanks have a very clear mission, which only Congress may revise; we discuss how FHLBanks fulfill that mission; we call on FHFA to give FHLBank credit for all of their activites when measuring mission adherence; and we note the FHLBank Act limits the agency's ability to require FHLBanks to implement extra-statutory incentive programs. We look forward to continuing to work with FHFA as this process moves forward.
