Fourteen years ago, we could not have imagined what FutureWomenX would become today. We started this journey because we were missing peers in our own lives and decided to pay it forward, creating the support we wished we had in our corporate and entrepreneurial careers. Today, FutureWomenX’s strength is more vivid than ever, manifested in our collective ability to create and nurture a critical mass of female leaders and entrepreneurs worldwide. Our FutureMakers at FutureWomenX are trailblazers who exemplify all forms of leadership and culture, founding ventures and supporting others in their journey toward completeness. We recently celebrated our 3rd edition of Secret Summerfest with 80 amazing Dutch Alumna, a testament to the power of our community. It was an incredible event filled with joy, connection, and inspiration. At FutureWomenX, we acknowledge that ripples of change don't emerge in isolation. If our dreams can be realized alone, then they aren't bold enough. We rely on companions to cradle our aspirations and allies to open doors, creating spaces where our visions can flourish. Toen Nazanin Saidlou, mijn oude recruiter van Capgemini, nu recruitment manager bij Bluetech Engineering me vroeg om een leadership talk te houden voor hun vrouwennetwerk (She Means Business), heb ik eerst allerlei namen genoemd van indrukwekkende vrouwen uit ons FutureWomenX Network. Ze belde me een week later terug en zei: “Ik wil jou, je bent inspirerend, hebt altijd een warm woord gehad voor iedereen in de organisatie, het is indrukwekkend wat je gedaan hebt, ik wil graag jouw persoonlijke verhaal horen.” Dat trok me over de streep. Ik moest denken aan de woorden van onze founder Patricia Becker: “It’s not up to you to decide if you are not a role model. The other women decide that for you. So live up to it, every single day.” En dat geldt natuurlijk ook voor mij;). En wat een warme ontvangst, open gesprekken in een fijne sfeer, met role model en CEO Nienke Overgaauw! En Nazanin helemaal in haar element. Dank aan allen voor deze inspirerende avond. Ik heb mijn persoonlijke verhaal afgesloten met mijn advies aan mijn jongere zelf: 🚀 Zeg wat je ambities zijn, mensen kunnen het niet raden, voorkom dat ze voor je gaan denken; 🚀 Nee, is ook een antwoord, oftewel, wees niet bang om iets te vragen; 🚀 Maak eerst verbinding, oordeel loos, voor je aan het werk gaat, zie mensen voor wie ze zijn; 🚀 Creëer dan je eigen team, coach mensen maar durf ook besluiten te nemen; 🚀 Carrière maken betekent niet nog harder werken, wel slimmer en vaak met meer support, én meer geld; 🚀 Pak kansen als ze je geboden worden, denk als Pippi Langkous, laat die “disfunctional false modesty” gaan; 🚀 En, mijn motto, hard op de inhoud, en vooral zacht op de relatie. 🚀 Last but not least: No one is you! Kansen vergroten doen we samen! Onvoorwaardelijke inzet om die fijne nachtrust voor het kind te helpen realiseren. En vooral die dankbaarheid. Geen woord kan daar waarde aan geven, die waarde dat is een gevoel. Dat gevoel, dat hield mij, temidden alles wat er in de wereld en de wijken gebeurt, in 2023 op de been. Continue alles op alles zetten om die armoede en ongelijkheid in die gezinnen te ‘hacken’. Duurzaam weg te nemen. Dit kan, enkel en alleen, samen. Dat begint bij ontmoetingen realiseren, zoals dat met FutureWomenX! En dat gevoel gaan we toch proberen woorden aan te geven, met dank aan Lianne Schonewille: ‘daar waar je het ongemak begint te voelen, is het tijd om bruggen te bouwen’. Stel, je hebt geen geld voor eten, je scant een QR-code op de gevel 🤳 en de deur van de supermarkt gaat open. De plek waar jij kan halen wat je nodig hebt, voor nop. 🛒 En nee, geen ellenlange brieven en ingewikkeld papierwerk om binnen te komen, maar vertrouwen. 💫 Dit bestaat mensen⚡, dit is Supermarkt Fris in Amsterdam Osdorp. Één van de bijzondere en nodige initiatieven van Bojana Duovski en Abdelhamid Idrissi Stichting Studiezalen. Tijdens de Sisterhood Walk & Talk van FutureWomenX voelde ik de nood van de wijk, en kleurde zij mijn perspectieven met ervaringen en verhalen achter de realiteit. Want leren en ontwikkelen is belangrijk, maar dat lukt alleen als de eerste lagen van de piramide van Maslow ook solide zijn. Ze doen het hier, weten de piramide te vertalen naar hun aanbod en ontvangen wekelijks honderden kinderen. Maar ook hun systemen die ze proberen te bestendigen met o.a. Supermarkt Fris. Ik ben er stil van, reed naar huis met een bijzonder gevoel. Dank voor het lek prikken 📌 van mijn bubbel. Want daar waar je het ongemak begint te voelen, is het tijd om bruggen te bouwen. 💪🔺

Gisteren hebben we een zeer geslaagde FutureWomenX Sisterhood Walk & Talk beleefd op de bijzondere lokatie van Stichting Studiezalen, een noodzakelijk en inmiddels zeer impactvol initiatief waar onze eigen FutureMaker Bojana Duovski haar hoogstpersoonlijke verhaal heeft gedeeld en haar indrukwekkende aandeel in de uitrol en ontwikkeling overduidelijk werd. Daar waren we even stil van. Inmiddels 1400 kinderen en 600 studenten per week in de onveiligste en armste wijk van Amsterdam een veilige plek bieden heeft impact op hen, hun families en aankomende generaties.
