Driving sustainability through the retrofit agenda Paul Mann, Gleeds’ Director for Consultancy (North England), recently participated in Building Magazine's Building the Future Think Tank roundtable in Newcastle. The event focused on addressing retrofit challenges in the region. Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings project wins 2024 RIBA National Award.   Originally constructed in 1797 as a pioneering iron-frame structure, the Flaxmill Maltings site has undergone a remarkable transformation into a modern exemplar of sustainability and heritage, now recognised with one of only twenty-six national 2024 RIBA awards. Gleeds provided cost management and health and safety services on the project. The site includes several outstanding listed historic buildings, including the oldest surviving iron-framed building globally, spanning 9055m² across seven separate structures.
