#ThrowbackThursday to last week’s Oncology Support Group, a support group for all cancer survivors, including those in treatment. The purpose of the meetings is to encourage sharing and mutual support among survivors, as well as to offer educational opportunities on cancer-related topics. Each session is filled with heartfelt stories, invaluable advice, and genuine camaraderie. Members share their personal journeys, offering hope and inspiration to one another. The discussions often cover a wide range of topics, from managing side effects to navigating relationships during and after treatment. We encourage you to join us. We extend our congratulations to AnnaMae Predtechenskis, 3 South, for being chosen as a Tenet Hero and welcomed into the prestigious Tenet Healthcare Hall of Fame. This award is the highest recognition for exceptional employees within the company. According to her nomination, AnnaMae is a shining example of the principles we uphold and the standards we strive to achieve, inspiring others to follow in their footsteps and contribute positively to our collective success. She is a compassionate individual who dedicates her life to caring for those who cannot speak for themselves. As a teenager, AnnaMae served as a children’s counselor for a ministry camp in upstate New York. There she met Liel, and cared for a nonverbal, autistic 13-year-old girl who was born and raised in Israel. AnnaMae was immediately drawn to Liel and how she interacted with others in the camp. AnnaMae was inspired to witness how Liel saw the world and knew she was unique and special. The friendship ultimately extended to the girl’s family in Israel and they remained in touch. When Israel was attacked in October 2023, AnnaMae immediately thought of Liel and was concerned for her safety whose home was only 30 minutes away from the worst of the attacks. She and her sister contacted Liel’s family and offered to open their home and hearts to Liel. Several days later, Liel arrived in South Florida and received safe shelter in AnnaMae and her sister’s home. They were granted temporary legal guardianship of Liel by her parents until she returned to Israel a few months ago. We thank AnnaMae for her selfless act of heroism and your commitment to our patients and our community. #StrongerTogetherForYou #PBHNProud
